Dry Diggings Distillery & Hills

Dry Diggings Distillery & Hills Best craft spirits of the west, visit us in the heart of gold country, family owned, also carrying Am If you ever wonder, ask us!

Since 2008, we have worked to bring the distillation industry in California on to the international scene. Aurum Sierra Inc, parent company of Amador & Dry Diggings Distillery, is proud to be a founding member of the California Artisanal Distillers Guild. As members, we are working to pass legislation to fix many laws established during Prohibition. Current legislation includes direct to consumer

shipping, if you'd like to support our effort visit CADistillers.org. At our distillery, we produce over 25 labels under our Amador, Engine 49, and Dry Diggings brands in addition to the private label work we do. Our expertise in distilling has brought us private label projects as well. Rocket Vodka, Corti Brothers spirits, one off whiskey projects and several brandies under various wine brands are all distilled here at Aurum Sierra. We are a distiller, blender and also do work for both the brewing and wine industry. We create spirits from beginning to end by working with local farmers, vintners, and brewers. However, we do also blend some of our whiskies, and our labels clearly state if that's the case. We do an awful lot of distilling, but the real flavor comes from our barrel aging process. Our warehouse is not temperature controlled, so the weather directly impacts our aging. This region lacks the humidity and tends to experience 30-45 degree temperature swings in a single day which allows our barrels to "breathe." If you'd like to learn & taste the difference, stop by the Tasting Room! Our Northern California location is close to wineries, the gold country, Apple Hill, and the Sierra Mountains. We are a couple of minutes off of Highway 50 between Sacramento and Placerville on the way to either San Francisco or Lake Tahoe. When you pull up, it will look like an unassuming office building, but upon entry, you’re transported back in time to the 1860’s. Visit to learn more about who we are & what we do.

What to expect when you visit for a tasting: 🥃

We're not sure yet.  Yesterday was the SIX-YEAR anniversary of our doors opening to the public for the first time, but it was also the one-year anniversary of those same doors closing.

This year hasn’t necessarily been a picnic in the park, but we are so looking forward to the golden days ahead. ☀️ As of 3/13/2021, California distilleries will be able to reopen for outdoor tastings in the purple & red tiers without having to serve food!  Once moves to the orange 🍊 tier, we can move indoors again.

We are working hard to develop what that will look like to make it the best and safest possible experience when you come to visit.  If you've signed up for our waitlist, keep an eye out as we will be contacting you to set up a reservation.

Just a heads up, walk-ins will ⛔NOT⛔ be accepted as per CA State Guidelines, reservations only. SWIPE to see the new rules! We appreciate your patience and understanding during this transitional period.

We are so incredibly excited to welcome you back! 😁
