The Mercantile side of our store is especially near and dear to me. I've spent years working alongside hundreds of incredibly talented makers, and one of my favorite parts of Wild Elm is getting to bring some of the really good ones into this little space of ours & share these incredible people with you.
So we're starting something new: Mercantile Monday.
Every Monday, we're pulling something off our shelves and introducing you to the people, products, and stories behind it.
And for our very first one, we knew exactly where to start.
Meet Nickola + Evocation Candle Company
You may recognize her, and we've sang her praises before.. but trust me when I say her flowers are long overdue.
Backstory: We met Nick this spring when she set up at the Downtown Farmers Market. I bought one of her fragrance oils and I'm not exaggerating when I tell you it is easily one of the top three vendor products I've ever purchased. Instantly obsessed.
The scent throw is incredible. It lingers. It smells expensive. And Constant? My God. CONSTANT. If you've ever heard me tell somebody in the shop, “No, seriously. Smell this,” and shoved something in their face... there's a fair chance this was it.
So naturally, we needed her products at Wild Elm. I would have begged, she thankfully didn't make me.
Somewhere between then and now, Nickola went from being a maker I met at the market to becoming a friend, falling a little bit in love with Wild Elm, and even jumping behind our counter this summer to help save our asses during vacation season.
She's a former Army medic, now works as a middle school security officer, makes insanely good home fragrance products right here in El Dorado, loves a crisp Coke, breakfast pizza, and (very importantly) a good nap. 😂
Basically, the product is incredible. The human behind it? Even more exeptional.
Evocation makes wood-wick candles, wickless candles, wax melts, fragrance oils, car diffusers and more. Right now at Wild Elm, you'll find Clean House, His & Hers, Laundry Day, Summer Melt, and Constant on our shelves.
The quality is actually ridiculous, and her prices are incredibly reasonable.
And Nickola is exactly the kind of maker we want this mercantile filled with. She's part of our stoy, and we're part of hers. This is the lore we want to build.
This is the kind of local we love at Wild Elm. It's more than just a zip code on a label. Finding people who are really damn good at what they do, getting excited about their work, and getting to put it in front of you.
So if you haven't stopped to smell the Evocation shelf yet, consider this your assignment. And if I haven't made myself clear enough: Smell Constant.
