We kicked off our very first Farmer’s Market of the school year on Tuesday, September 1 at Dysart Middle School!

During lunch, students were able to sample fresh produce and discover fun food facts. Featured items include:
Rainbow Carrots
Watermelon Radish
Kiwi
Mango

We are Hiring!

SFE Dysart Nutrition Services is looking for part-time Food Service Workers to support students across Dysart schools.

This is a great opportunity for parents, grandparents, and community members in Surprise, El Mirage, Waddell, and the Northwest Valley who are looking for a school-day schedule.

4–5 hours per day
Monday–Friday
Follows the student calendar
Make a difference for students every day

Through our Harvest of the Month program, we’re helping students explore different foods while learning more about nutrition and where their food comes from. Corn grows best in warm, sunny weather and provides vitamin C, a nutrient that helps support the body. It is also used in many familiar foods, including popcorn, corn chips, and corn oil.

Families, be sure to check Nutrislice to see when corn is featured on the menu this month, and keep the learning going by talking about the many ways corn can be enjoyed at home!

National Potato Day is coming up on August 19! 🥔

Students can start the day with Cheesy Egg & Potato Breakfast Tacos, served with diced pears on the side. It’s a fun way to celebrate a familiar ingredient while enjoying a flavorful school breakfast.

School Lunch Hero Day was one to remember at Rancho Gabriela Elementary in Surprise. The team went all in and transformed the cafeteria into a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles-inspired diner, complete with pizza boxes, jukeboxes, record players, and a creative manhole cover display with one of the turtles peeking out through the “smoke” from the dry ice. The cafeteria staff dressed as the turtles, students joined in with superhero-themed outfits of their own, and the whole school helped make it a fun, memorable celebration. It was such a great example of what can happen when everyone comes together to celebrate the people who serve students with care every single day.
