Looking for the Summer Meal Program at Valley Vista High School? We’ll show you where to go.

Start by parking at the Vista Center for the Arts parking lot.

From there, walk toward the school and follow this path to the cafeteria entrance.

Once inside, children and teens 18 and under can enjoy free breakfast and lunch, Monday through Thursday, June 1 through June 18.

Breakfast is served from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m., and lunch is served from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.

Meals must be eaten on site in the cafeteria.

Summer break is here, and we’re proud to continue supporting Dysart families through the Summer Meal Program.

From June 1–18, children 18 and under can receive free breakfast and lunch Monday–Thursday at Valley Vista High School. This program helps make sure kids have access to nutritious meals while school is out, because fueling bright futures doesn’t stop when summer begins.

Meals must be enjoyed on site in the cafeteria. Adults may also purchase meals for $3.00 at breakfast and $5.00 at lunch.

Second to last day of school, final food truck stop of the 25/26 school year, and one special sendoff for the 8th graders at Sunset Hills Elementary!
We celebrated their next step to high school with a fun lunch featuring boneless wings with rolls, BBQ and Buffalo sauce, celery and carrots, tater tots, fresh apples, and milk. What a great way to close out the year and celebrate these students before they head into their next chapter.

Congratulations to Marlene Nathan for being selected as our Employee Spotlight!

This month’s Employee Spotlight goes to Marlene Nathan from Riverview School. Marlene was an easy choice and a unanimous yes from the team. She is dedicated, dependable, and puts so much care into the work she does each day. When she was presented with the award, she was very appreciative, but quickly shared that her whole team deserves recognition too because of how well they work together.

Amanda Mendoza, SFE Assistant General Manager, shared, “Marlene is an absolute boss in the kitchen. She is constantly staying busy, always finding things that need to be done, and never has to be asked to jump in. Her hard work, dedication, and perseverance make her a model employee. Great job, Marlene!”

Before joining SFE, Marlene worked as a nurse, and that care for others still shows in the way she works with students and supports her team. We are so grateful to have her at Riverview and excited that she will be returning next school year.

That’s a wrap on our Farmer’s Markets for the school year! 🍉🥭🥕

Today, Sonoran Heights Middle School hosted our last Farmer’s Market of the year, and students had the chance to sample watermelon, mangos, cherry tomatoes, and rainbow carrots during lunch.

These events are such a fun way to bring fresh fruits and vegetables into the cafeteria and give students a chance to try something new in a simple, no-pressure way.

School Lunch Hero Day was one to remember at Rancho Gabriela Elementary in Surprise. The team went all in and transformed the cafeteria into a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles-inspired diner, complete with pizza boxes, jukeboxes, record players, and a creative manhole cover display with one of the turtles peeking out through the “smoke” from the dry ice. The cafeteria staff dressed as the turtles, students joined in with superhero-themed outfits of their own, and the whole school helped make it a fun, memorable celebration. It was such a great example of what can happen when everyone comes together to celebrate the people who serve students with care every single day.

Crunchy, colorful, and full of flavor: May’s Harvest of the Month is Bell Pepper!

Bell peppers bring a bright pop of red, yellow, orange, and green to school meals while offering nutrients like vitamin C, vitamin A, potassium, and fiber. Students may see them featured on the menu this month, so be sure to check Nutrislice and give them a try!

Happy School Lunch Hero Day! 🧡
Today we’re celebrating the amazing cafeteria teams across Dysart USD who show up every school day to serve breakfast and lunch to hundreds of students. From early mornings and busy lunch lines to the smiles, care, and teamwork they bring to each campus, our staff do so much more than serve meals.
They help fuel learning, create welcoming spaces, and make sure students are cared for each day. They truly are the unsung heroes of our schools, and we are so grateful for all they do.
