Sumo “Dekopon”Mandarin $1.50 each or $6 for a box of 5
A little info on the Sumo Citrus “Dekopon.” It was developed in Japan and grown in California since 2011. It is a cross between a Navel, Pomelo, and Mandarin. It is only grown between the months of January to April. It takes 4 years for a tree to produce the fruit. Even though the tree and the fruit look wrinkly and odd, the Dekopon are delicious, easy to peel, and very juicy. At one time it was considered the most anticipated fruit. It is full of fiber, calcium, and vitamin C. It is low in acidity. They normally, cost around $3.99 per pound at some specialty grocery stores.
