Normally, I’m a big advocate for letting the garden rest through winter and waiting until spring to clean up. But when you’re gearing up for this year’s market garden and get a stretch of days like we’ve had the last couple of weeks… you take advantage.

Right now it’s mostly about adding materials back into the beds. Mulch generously provided by Wright Tree Service and leaves from Wray’s Lawn and Landscaping.

These free resources help with moisture retention, w**d suppression, and—over time—build a healthier soil biome, which means free fertilizer down the road. 👌🏼🌿

And as a bonus, the chickens are thrilled with all their new playground equipment. 😉🐔

🌱 Hello, friends — it’s been a while.

Last summer, our plan was to open the farmstand… but life had other plans. We welcomed a sweet new baby in August and chose to keep that season just for our family. The end of summer became a time for rest, preparation, and slowing down — and the garden took a pause alongside us.

We want you to know we’re still here. 💛
Rested, recovered, soaking up winter baby snuggles, and feeling ready to grow again.

As we step into a new year, we’re taking things slowly and intentionally — dreaming, planning, and letting this season be what it is. The farmstand will come in time, and we’re excited to ease into it when the moment feels right.

Thank you for your patience and for being here with us. Here’s to a gentle start to the year and all the good things ahead. 🌿

We disappeared for a while.
No signal, no schedule—just the hush of trees and the shimmer of water.
Mornings with coffee by the fire,
bare feet in the dust,
sunlight on our faces,
and the easy laughter of kids making campground friends.

I didn’t take many pictures—just a few quiet moments by the creek—but we lived the rest with both hands and open hearts.

Now we’re home, the air smells like summer,
and the farm stand is calling.
It’s almost ready.
We can’t wait to welcome you soon.

A rainy day calls for a slow morning on the porch with a cup of tea or coffee in hand. ☕🌧️ This sweet little spot is perfect for watching the rain fall and soaking in the peaceful charm of the cottage.

And just across the way, that red building in the background? That’s our farm stand! Soon, guests will be able to take a short stroll over to grab fresh blooms, produce, and more — all grown just steps from your stay. 🌿🌼

We came prepared—list in hand, ready to pick up a few friends for Chanel and her new chicks.
But somewhere between the peeping and the puffballs… the math got fuzzy. 🐣➕🐥➕🐤 = 🤷‍♀️

(Okay, okay—not all of these babies are ours. Some are for friends. We just had the brooder ready… and apparently, also the self-control of a soggy cracker.)

We have babies! As of now, there are five fluffy little chicks in the nest. Our sweet Chocolate Orpington, Chanel, is proving to be the gentlest, most attentive momma. We’re thrilled to welcome these new additions to our flock!

With all of the hustle around the new shed, I have neglected to share some of our recent excitement on the farm. This big broody momma has been on the nest for 21 days as of this morning. We’ll post another update later today! 🤗🐥

She’s here!! Our farm stand shed was delivered today, and we’re one step closer to opening the Four Loves Farm Stand! We’ve poured a lot of love into this dream, and we can’t wait to share the fruits (and flowers!) of our labor with you. Opening soon — and we mean it! 💐🍅

Sunday well spent 💦☀️
We turned the garden into a battlefield today with a full-on water balloon fight — laughter, squeals, and soaked clothes all around. The perfect way to cool down and soak up some joy. 💚🌿
