Look what we got in our email box! Official awards from the summer v-show

Woohoo! V-show results are in! We only entered 4 goats this time, but I'm very happy with their placings!
Green Gables CGF Hidden Jewel got 4th out of 14 in both rings.
Green Gables CGF Swiss Miss 2*P took 1st & 2nd (out of 11) and went on to win Reserve Champion in ring 2!
The boys did even better with Green Gables AC Star of the Show *B (Showman) taking 1st in both rings (only 2 entries) and then Reserve Champion in ring 2!
Sailor Jerry did the very best of everyone! 5th and 1st (of 18!) and then GRAND CHAMPION and BEST BUCK IN SHOW (Ring 2)!
Congratulations to all participants. A huge thank you to Joanna for breeding Sailor and congratulations on your many wins! Her doe Cherry took GCH & BUB, BEST DOE IN SHOW & BEST UDDER IN SHOW ring one and is Sailor Jerry's paternal half sister. Her doe Pixy took GCH, BUB, BEST DOE IN SHOW & BEST UDDER IN SHOW in ring 2 and is sired by a Green Gables buck. 😍

We have our planned breeding page finally posted! Taking deposits for 2027. Remember, that you do not have to choose a specific pairing when placing a deposit with us. Most buyers list the traits they are looking for in a kid and they get to choose from available kids without being restricted to certain pairings. I am always glad to help buyers make the decision by explaining strengths and weaknesses of each kid and which ones I think best fit their needs.

Got our one day test results back with 8 does qualifying for their stars! Especially happy about Star getting her milk star for the first time. Her boys will now have their *B. We have a yearling out of Star available too.

What you cannot see from these photos is her incredible udder texture and or***ce size that makes milking fun and easy even though her teats are a little more widely placed than I prefer.

I feel so bad for the goats! The air quality here in WI is HORRIBLE today from wildfire smoke that is coming down from Canada & northern MN. It is also HOT this week (upper 90s). A few things we are doing to help them make it through this:
💧Fresh water checked/refilled 3x/day (with a splash of ACV as usual)
🍎A bucket of 50/50 ACV/water
🌿A bucket of tea. Currently have mullein & nettle tea plus some older immune support herbs that we have laying around that aren't as potent any more. Added peppermint for the kids and bucks (not in the milking doe's bucket). Molasses added to the tea as well.
🧂Extra salt
🛘Making sure minerals & MRX are fresh and filled.
🫁I put out some Breathe herbs from Fir Meadow so they can self medicate as needed.

Hopefully the air will clear soon. Forecast says it will stay bad through the weekend.

So frustrating this morning trying to get photos of Miss Emmaline. Her udder was absolutely HUGE and extremely wide. But as soon as I looked at it through the camera, it looked nothing like real life. 😭 I think this is the best pic I got.
