“River” is a lovely girl that was born here a couple of years ago, and was recently picked up as a stray by a shelter an hour away, called Riverpoint. Because she’d left here with a microchip and her owner didn’t transfer the chip into their name, they called me. I gave them the owners contact (I keep paper and e-records of all my sales) but he never got back to them. They called me back a week later. I couldn’t leave her there, so I went and got her. She’s been here a few months and it’s been fun, but she’s looking for her forever farm now.

She’s great with goats. She loves women/girls but is scared of men/boys (we are working on it and it’s gotten better), and she jumps fences. But she’s super sweet and has gotten along with the other girl dogs. I do think she’s dominant but doesn’t exert herself.

Pamba, my AKC Anatolian shepherd, and Onna, my “super mix” LGD matriarch, are her parents. She would love to roam with a flock or have a high fence to live in (she’s in a large 6’ enclosure now, but I want more for her). She is still intact and should be spayed. She has gotten loose after a few trials outside of her enclosure, but didn’t left our main property even with the gate open. She feels safe with the herd/pack. So she definitely needs those. She’s not a house dog and doesn’t do great on a leash.

I just said no to a (Labrador) stud fee because the female’s owners “don’t have time to run a DNA test,” as she’s already in heat and “needs” a stud next week. I am an ethical breeder. My studs will not be paired with a female that doesn’t have a DNA test done within the last two years. I’m not risking it since I know what my dogs carry (single copies only). I didn’t upheave my breeding program and set myself back years for nothing. This is serious and honest work for me. A labor of love.

I prefer she also has at least preliminary OFAs of hips and elbows.

Breeding isn’t about taking two cute dogs are making babies because “you can.” What’s your goal? Why are you breeding? Have you thought about the risks? The money and time involved in raising a litter? This isn’t a game. Stop adding to the backyard breeding population. Also, my price for a stud fee isn’t chump change. Be prepared to spend.

Off my soapbox now…

Koko is looking for a new farm. She was born here, and is out of Oko (Caucasian Ovcharka) and Empress (Boz/Anatolian/Pyrenees) from four years ago. She’s spayed and does well with goats, cats, and other dogs. No chickens. Has done great in the house but loves being outside. She’s in Franktown, CO and ready immediately as her family is moving out of state and aren’t able to take the farm with them. Knowing her lines she will need a job, but will thrive at it.

Lambo came to me about six months ago from someone who didn’t have the time to work through his puppyhood shenanigans. I get it. They can be tough little buggers. And in cases like this, where I am able, I will take these dogs to hopefully learn a bit about them and their capabilities. Evaluate, rehabilitate, and find them the best home. Lambo stole our hearts immediately. He is the sweetest dog we’ve had come through this farm. He played a little with a furry sheep’s wool once, but other than that he was fine with everything, including chickens and other male dogs. The trouble was he was being bullied by my male pack. So ultimately I knew he’d need to find a new home. And he did. The sweetest family adopted him over the weekend and he has already settled in wonderfully. He even gets to rejoin Beans/AKA Mr. Bean, the sheep they adopted from us a couple of weeks ago. I couldn’t be happier for Lambo and his new family. I truly hope wonderful success for all. 🥰

FYI this isn’t a new program or anything. We just find that sometimes we are able to take in dogs that need a safe landing for a bit. And we are so grateful to be able to do so from time to time. 🥰
