I dined at the Brown Bag Seafood Co. located on the southwest corner of Division and State Street in Chicago. The parking situation was street parking. I actually circled past the restaurant three times before I found a Park Chicago pay parking spot a block away. Once my dining experience was completed I realized my staying diligent was worth the effort. This was my first time ever patronizing a Brown Bag Seafood Co. restaurant. This location is very quaint, and extremely clean, with seating for an estimate 8-10 people at small booths and one counter seating. The service was GREAT! You place your order at the counter, and they bring your food to you when done.

I ordered the Grilled Wildcaught Hake with sides of Chowdah and Truffle Parm Tots. I also sampled the Lobster Roll. Everything was absolutely DELICIOUS! The Hake fish was perfectly seasoned and grilled. It was flaky, tender and full of flavor. As a tuffle lover I appreciated the truffle flavor of the tator tots with fresh shaved parmesan cheese. The chowdah was delicate and savory. For me to have sampled a small portion of the Lobster Roll I found it to be meaty. I would definitely dine at this location again!

Ahhh ... on May 21, 2026 I was back at Norman's Bistro. This time I tried the Half Fried Chicken with a side of Braised Collard Greens. The chicken was extra crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The greens were tender with a delightful flavored blance of sweet and savory.

I stopped at Swift Tavern for a quick bite to eat after volunteering at Wrigleyfield for an event. The atmosphere was lively and bright. My server was great! I had the Salmon Croquettes and Chilli Cheese Fries. I was a bit disappointed with the Chilli Cheese Fries, because the cheese was stiff and not creamy. However, I enjoyed the Salmon Croquettes. I think this is a great spot for those who want to dine directly across the street from where the Chicago Cubs play baseball. The restaurant has big screens to watch the game.

Norman's Bistro located 1001 East 43rd Street, Chicago, IL 60653

It had been several years since I dined at Norman's Bistro. There is street parking and luckily enough I was quickly able to find parking directly across the street on a Sunday evening. Our party of 5 were serviced by the lovely Jasmine. Her customer service and attentiveness was Great! First off we all enjoyed the Fried Green Tomatoes appetizer. The tomatoes were sliced just thick enough, tender inside and crispy outside. For my entree I had the Caribbean Flame-Grilled Lamb, served with grilled Red Peppers and Onions. For my side I chose Red Beans and Rice. Everything was so delicious. The only reason I gave 4 stars, for the atmosphere, was because once the Jazz Band started playing inside the dining room, they were competing with the sound of dj music loudly playing in the next room. Overall I enjoyed the experience.

I went to Ashford House Restaurant because I was craving Corned Beef and Cabbage today, as it is St Patricks Day. I had never been to Ashford House before. I stumbled upon this restaurant through a Google search for an authentic Irish restaurant close enough to my home. Ashford House came up top on the list. The restaurant is located right off of a very busy street. However, they do offer free parking in their lot. My meal of Corned Beef and Cabbage included potatoes, carrots, yeast roll and soup or salad. I chose the Beef Vegetable Soup. My entire meal was very tasty and very plentiful! I went for lunch and ended up having enough for dinner too! For the salt conscious folks, let me tell you their Corned Beef is not salty at all. Don't let my picture of the Corned Beef and Cabbage fool you. There were multi layers of the Corned Beef and of the Cabbage. If you're in the Tinley Park, IL area, and find yourself hungry, give Ashford House Restaurant a try.

ANN THAI CUISINE is located in a small strip mall, with easy parking. It was my first time visiting Ann Thai Cuisine and I must say the food was soooo darn delicious! I have eaten at a lot of Thai food restaurants across the country. Yet the flavors of the Tom Yum soup and Stir Fried Pad Mix Vegetable with Chicken, at Ann Thai Cuisine, had unique flavors that were extremely delicious and different than what I have grown accustomed to at other restaurants. I would definitely eat here again, when I visit Virginia from Illinois.

While I was recently in New Jersey a quick Google search, for a good restaurant near my hotel, lead my sorority sister and I to Algarve. Algarve Restaurant states they are a traditional Portuguese restaurant with a modern twist. This restaurant is nestled into a residential community. The parking lot is small, so finding street parking might be difficult. I was lucky enough to park in the lot, in the one vacant spot. It was a Thursday evening, so I could only imagine patrons having to circle the block to find parking on the weekends. Algarve is a white linen restaurant, with surprisingly affordable dishes. Our waiter was pleasant. The food was absolutely delicious! The portion sizes are enough for two to three meals. My delicious meal consisted of the appetizer Clams In Garlic Sauce (Clams sautéed with garlic, cilantro, and white wine), Garden Salad (Mixed Greens, tomatoes, red onions, cucumbers, shredded carrots, house vinaigrette dressing) and Beef Short Ribs with Roasted Potatoes and Mixed Vegetables.

PassionEats is located within a strip mall off a very busy street. There is plenty of off street parking, so no need to worry about where to park. This was my first time dining at PassionEats. I dined with 13 friends in a private room inside the restaurant. I was there on a Sunday afternoon, and let me tell you it was non-stop busy. I ordered the 3 piece fried white chicken, with collard greens and mac and cheese as my side dishes. I also odered the bananna pudding as my dessert. The food was good. For as busy as this restaurant was, the service was great.

I was craving Pho. From a Google search I decided to try Lotus Banh Mi, since I was not far from the location. In this area of town you have the option of paid street parking or paid garage parking.

This restaurant is bright, clean and quaint. The service was friendly and great. You order at the counter and pickup when your order is ready. My friend and I dined in for the whole experience.

I love ginger, but have never had ginger flavored Pho before. Lotus Banh Mi's Pho options are different from any Vietnamese Pho restaurant I have ever dined in or dined from, across the country. Curious about the taste of their Ginger Chicken Pho, I decided to try it. Let me tell you it was quite delicious! This dish has the perfect balance of ginger flavor, as it was not over powering.

I was back at the Soul Food Lounge 2 restaurant on February 1, 2025 and it did not disappoint. The service, food, live entertainment and ambiance was on point again. I decided to try a different entree for my second time around. This time I enjoyed the Argentinian Chimichurri Pot Roast, which came with herb crusted potatoes, winter vegetable medley (roasted bell peppers and zucchini) and an edible flower. The flavors of this dish were such a delight on my tongue. I'm still trying to figure out what delicious seasonings were used. It was definitely mmm mmm good!
