Just two boys playing in the dirt 💕
Ever wondered why chickens roll around in the dirt like it’s a spa day? 🐔
It’s called a dust bath, and it’s actually essential for their health. Chickens use loose, dry soil to clean their feathers and skin. The dust absorbs excess oils and helps get rid of parasites like mites and lice. As they fluff, shake, and roll, the fine particles work deep into their feathers—basically a natural dry shampoo!
Afterward, they shake off the dust, leaving their feathers cleaner, lighter, and better insulated. It might look messy to us, but for chickens, it’s the perfect way to stay fresh and healthy—no water required.
Nature always has its own clever solutions!
As for Wes…. He’s 2 and just likes chickens and dirt 🤣
