Several years ago Rick and Mike Dittmar decided to start selling sweet corn and other produce at the local farmers market. In 2014 we have planted an orchard that has 4 different kinds of apples. Two years later we planted 700 more! We also farm about 100 acres of "regular farming" with field corn, and alfalfa. In the fall of 2014 we opened for U-pick pumpkins and had over 1300 visitors. We proudl

y sell, apples, pumpkins, raspberries, and sweet corn. The farm is located in scenic Jo Daviess County in Northwest Illinois around 10 miles from Galena. The farm has been in our family since 1854 and as you can tell by our photo albums, it is a big family affair. We hope to see you someday!

As we get ready for Fall, we want to share an honest update about this year’s apple crop. Late spring frosts damaged and destroyed most of the flower buds at our orchard before they could become apples. This resulted in a total loss of our apple crop this year.

We are so very sorry that we will not have any pick your own apples this year. We will have bagged apples from other local orchards to purchase in our store. We hope you understand our disappointment in not being able to offer the pick your own apple experience, but unfortunately sometimes Mother Nature has other plans.

Although apples are a large part of what we do at Dittmar Farms, we still have many other crops and activities for everyone to enjoy. Over the years we have added various crops because we want guests to enjoy northwestern Illinois agriculture and also because diversity makes a farm stronger and more resilient.

This year we have a great crop of pick your own pumpkins as well as raspberries and cut flowers. Enjoy the corn maze, tire tower, haywagon basketball, and as always you can enjoy the best hayride in Jo Daviess County at Dittmar Farms all season long! Plus don’t forget to grab some apple c***r donuts and slushies!
