Meredith Valley Farm

Meredith Valley Farm Farmhouse and Cabin rentals There aren't too many places on earth where its incredible history speaks to you as much as its beauty and appearance.
(245)

This is one of them. Meredith Valley Farm was established in 1965 and has taken on a life full of richness and tradition ever since. Expanding over 144 acres of beautiful landscapes, hillsides, cabins, and riverfront that are all accented by personal touches of a life that dates back to a different era. An era that valued each moment for its peace and quiet, and looked forward to the next for its unknown adventure and fun. Welcome to the Farm.

Some days there is the thought of pulling up the rain washed, bumpy gravel road in the late 60’s, and early 70’s to see an apple orchard still lining the old rail fence Daddy built.

We pile out of Nellie, our family W***y jeep, with picnic basket in Mama’s hand, … the massive garden growing with w**ds absolutely everywhere… and we sit under the apple tree by the rusty hay rake. We were young. We were together on the farm.

All sweating from summer heat, yet never say a word about it, take off through the fields to go get our horses, ride a ba****ck trott, then cool off at the cement pond, all while Daddy w**d eats around the barn with a scythe tool, and Mama spreads a blanket for sandwiches.

That barn. She was growing older with the rest of us… slowly while time was quickly passing. That barn knows it all in every season of life on the farm at Meredith Valley… before it had a logo… when the wormy chestnut days of a barn began. That barn was ours after The Taylors and The Lyons had their time in its being.

From 1965 till 2026, we have watched this seasoned barn share stories, be filled with animals of every kind, shelter hay, crawling snakes and chirping birds, murmurs containing the voices of friendship and family …
always finding a way to withstand weather, cousins hide and go seek, barn art, woodworking, sleep overs with newborn livestock, muckings, roasted marshmallows around a fire pit, Christmas pictures, Betsy’s home for 27 years, music, kindergarteners, and weddings.

This MV barn has lived a life of quietness, and fulfilled every dream possible. “The boys”, Leo and Martin, did a very caring job of planning her new sturdy life as she began to whither with time.

For that we honor her tonight through all the years of changes. This barn was fully restored in 2009 with the logo of MV, which was designed by Daddy, to became her signature vision of love… a deep growing love. Barns may change, memories never change.

Mama loved to go for rides in the country just looking at barns. We traveled many a road through her last years of life loving on old barns. Each ride had a purpose and a story. It took her heart back to many dates with Daddy just riding the roads doing the same. What a simple life as a farmer doing what was later curated to grow into Meredith Valley Farm.

Big red barns, oh how grateful we are, that this one holds all of our stories from the beginning to now.

Meredith Valley Barn we love you, and glad your heart is forever and a day ….. ours.

Our USA Flag seen in her glory and glimmer of many pictures flying quietly, proudly, framed or displayed in old wooden barn art.

Our flag is part of Meredith Valley Farm’s hope, faith, family, friends, and guest. Peacefully tucked in some corner of farm life, or forefront boldly for each to feel.

Today she flies… and will remain amongst these Tennessee mountains or river valleys … bravely representing time. The last picture tributes the shadow of our farm Veteran Steve Strazay while making apple butter with West Side Kinder- Friends 2018. 🇺🇸

🌧️ Rainy Morning April 28, 2026

Somewhere over the rainbow, there’s a farmhouse called home to 3 families, and many, many guests.

The William Taylor Family
The Denton Lyons Family
The Lloyd Meredith Family

The flower beds are remembered as much as all the imprints of shoes, and bare feet that have stepped upon these grounds.

Each family took time to stop, and smell the flowers freshened by a rain just like today’s fragrant gift.

Dirt and rain sure mix well for many families, and guest that visit MVF.

Happy rainy morning from MVFarmhouse!

🍃 🍎 Earth Day 2026

Everything about this apple tree weighted down with the blossoms of spring reminds us of the beauty of our Earth, and the bounty forthcoming.

This saved apple tree believed it could survive from the original farm apple orchard…. and it did survive!!! The teamwork of a brother, and sister nurtured it with great care, as well as the smaller one that stands beside it. Side by side they grew producing apples for deer, ground hogs, and our sweet Belgium horse. Many apples fed our Betsy girl for years.

Meredith won an Earth Day poster contest in 4th grade at West Side School. It still speaks volumes 30 years later, and warms a Mama’s heart. Some things never change… and some things can be saved… like two apple trees, and a little girl’s hopes for our beautiful Earth.

Happy Earth Day from us nature loving folks at Meredith Valley!

❤️ Beginnngs

MVCabins and Campground on the river just keeps returning to this long searched for picture of Daddy’s Cabin dream on the river in this most beautiful spot on the farm. A heart of many years returned there last night. Then Caleb visited later confirming the peaceful presence of this very spot that has gotten him through 4 years of medical school. He shared of all the times he had been so tired, and needed positive serenity, in which this very spot and swing reconnected him to the power to finish strong.

Congrats to you Caleb, as your graduate in May, and head to University of Kentucky for residency school. Such an accomplishment. Thankful that Meredith Valley could be part of your successful journey.

The area also provided a “Johnny House,” for special evenings of our local Boy Scout group, with grown Scott Bowers, and members, to frequent… set up camp and stay a while. That is beyond special to recall.

Martin built this swing for our Mother, and others! We have no idea the magnitude of this spot, until a guest like Caleb reveals its genuineness to us. That’s Caleb sitting there feeling peacefulness.
This swing never personifies emptiness.

Gary and Linda Autry… as a family we share your name right here with so much respect. Tennessee folks sure do love you!

Mr. and Mrs. Duck have chosen this spot for their new family home. Imagine that?

This spot was Daddy’s dream, and we as a family completed that dream for him many years later. Daddy would be so proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grand children.

Others have sat here, worked here and made it feel like home on the farm. A good rest in a swing always calms the mind, and embellishes the spirit of that presence we all linger in daily.

While walking this area last night, a gift from nature was discovered under a strong, rooted walnut tree right where Daddy landed this old cabin which was relocated from Broad Street, close to Duffield School. We 3 kids passed it many times with him and Mama.

6 walnut shells, that we all collect because the half declares a heart, and the symbol of our M and V brand which Daddy designed at his Ford Place desk. Meredith Marie made the specialness of it known to us all.

Meredith Valley. Few know that these walnut shells are hidden in many a spot of love on this farm. Everywhere. Left untouched, whether by a squirrel family, or by a daughter who cherishes family memories here deeply. …. possibly they will be found by our new owners.

These five … if there had been 18, we would have placed them all here. Right here … the beginnings. We have grown as a family with time, and love and, for that we are well rooted with strength.

Let the silent pictures speak for themselves. Peace to our roots found in our Mama and Daddy.

With the waking of critters, a beaver’s teeth sharping on a log, otters and birds rising…. MVCabins and Campground… always hears our neighbors across the mighty Watauga River rising, too.

We hope you have the best of days.

😊😉 🦌 MVC Bookings and Critters

Whether the new learning of Airbnb, with our children’s assistance, or direct bookings, we depended upon you visitors to help pay the water bills. For in 2018, we felt we might just open a MVC water park from repairing a few water leaks here or there. We did it. We always caught each other’s back in the fall, as we lifted each other back into the rise of being present for others, and rightfully ourselves.

“Don’t look at what we didn’t do, look at what we did do.”

We did it again! Super Host with Airbnb. Not alone, with the assistance, and lifting of many back supporters. Not bragging… that’s accomplishing, overcoming, and pure perseverance at its best.

We wish, and hope the best for others in this same business. We know how much self energy you give 24/7 to trust the process. So glad we always had Norine at Bee Cliff Cabins, Brownie and Susan Liles, Watauga River Cabins, Beck Mountain Cabin, Judson Gee at Stonefly, Jack at Ridgeview Pavilion, Serenity and The Mottern’s Campground and Carla’s Cottage, Josh Ellis, Trophy Trout Cabins, Jason and Kellie Reep, The Ebony Hayes family, and many, many others to lean upon when needing assistance. There are so many River Guides we value that bring commerce into this area. We are all in this venture together. Cheers!Thank you.

Thank you. Thank you, and one more time… thank Y❤️U!

This shared review reminds us that because of the lives of animals, folks kept coming back. Just a few pics, and hope to add more critters as find pictures.

The critters, of which Caleb shared about late last night. That skunk. Sure that we both hope for a sighting early this morning of our bald eagle’s return. 🦅. Its presence is here each spring. Soaring… rising.

Thank you to Loud Photography for visiting, sitting on a peaceful porch with a camera, a cup of coffee, and sharing pics of bird sightings along the river. Text and phone conversations about nature are most cherished!

A 🦫 beaver… yes, a beaver chopped down a Christmas 🎄 tree right here at The River Shed… at Christmas. Truth. Period.

Enjoy some of the life beyond humans that frequent this spot. Then the last few, much loved moments of farm humans with their horses… our Julia, Gina and Lily, Meredith Marie, Martin… and Betsy girl. Betsy, like the rest of us, you knew these fields and valleys well.

Today is here. Time to rise and take flight.
