Welcome to the new season of life on a farm along the hillsides, valleys and Watauga River.

Today, Meredith Valley welcomes 5 families who become the expanding generational owners of this small part of history. For, this farm is rooted deeply in heritage, culture, and the lives of families. We are overjoyed with their dreams of farming, events, and being part of our local community.

The orchestration of the sale of our family farm has so many wonderful stories to share in knowing that God’s timing in this journey was his own. We needed to be still, wait and know that these families were meant to be here. We owe that purpose solely to Him.

Then, we thank each other …. 2 woman that teamed up, with family support, and saw the farm finish strong. Each complimented the dreams and hopes of a family legacy. Janet and Vera…. never alone, yet making decisions in their own time.

As a family, we thank Sandy Poe for her unmeasurable time as a realtor, vested in each decision made during the sale of MVF. Her professionalism, care and genuine heart has guided answers to many questions with diligence and respect. The time with her was meant to be as we realized paths crossed in earlier years at First Christian Church. Sandy Poe was meant to get us to the finish line. We respectfully value the trusting life time relationship built with Sandy, as new families became owners.

Time with the best of a land surveyor, and a life time family friend, Dennis Pierce, made walking this property feel more like home with the shared stories he conveyed to us. Time always valued. Always.

We also appreciate the realtors, lenders, and lawyers involved with each new owner’s input. Lots of dedication has gone into the support of making this place their buyer’s home. Simply, to anyone not mentioned …. You know the expression of gratitude is there in all ways.

As shared, our greatest gratitude goes to those who have helped build this farm community… Steve Burrough, Mary Hilton, Matthew Linberg, and so many others in name and in heart…. Diane, Heather, Patti and Keith, Debbie, Stephanie, Tommy, Kenny Cornett,… so many…. and of course, each of our family members. We are generously thankful for you all.

We asked for very little in the hopes of our decision to release the farm so we could enjoy more time with our growing families. The hope that the farm could remain a place of beauty, a continuation for nature to be respected, and simply that throughout the process, love continued to be the plowed furrows of this land.

♥️Time allowed each hope to be granted in the presence of these 5 families who now are Meredith Valley. Most definitely, as our Mama shared “GodWinks!” It is undeniably truth that coincidences… no… synchronicities…no …. random such happenings….no. Purely felt and experienced incredible Godwinkers… the apples of our eyes kind of Godwinkers! At times we sat, looked with awe, and whispered or shouted, “Come on now, did that just happen? Were we graced again with such a gift?” Yes, time after time… yes. If you have never read the book by Squire Rashnell, “GodWinks,” then pick one up, and indulge in the moment. Marcheta Carriger shared it with Mama years ago, and she never stopped feeling them in our lives. Thank you Marcheta.

Mama gave her blessing unexpectedly one couch sitting day …. for the sale of this farm to take place someday. A Mother often knows before her children what is to be. Vera and family will be keeping Mama’s home, Tudie’s Cabin, in the valley, and look forward to returning to visit friends, and family in Elizabethton. Tudie’s Cabin will continue to be rented to guests.

We are truly excited for all that is to come with these wonderful families at Meredith Valley. The farm brand will remain, and we are honored with that. Daddy, Mama, Leo and Martin would be so happy… as happy as we all are.

We thank you for following along with us since 2012 when Meredith and David took the M and V heart ♥️ branded by Daddy to begin a page. Each of Mama’s grandchildren, and their family have given so much heart and time here making home feel extra good during days of living here.

We trust that shared pictures and stories have brought you hope, love, peace, happiness and above all gratitude. It’s been so fulfilling to witness your returned kindness in word for 14 years.

We will make a couple final posts, share a menagerie, a potpourri mix a pot FULL, a whatever we find of family pictures so we have them here in a collection for our legacy to recall and enjoy.

Then we shall quietly and humbly go be full time Gigi and Boba. What shall we do everyday? Time will travel fast, and we all plan to be present for each other daily.

Adding a special note, some items relative to the era with Sycamore Shoals State Park were donated to the park from Martin’s collections. The firetruck pedal car of Martin and Ray Wilson days was caringly shared with our main Elizabethton Fire Department. Chief Barry Carrier and Fireman Dalton Sams were honored to accept the little red fire truck 🚒 for historical display. Martin would smile extra about that.

♥️ Finally …. a very random, not planned post, yet must chronicle this loved house somewhere.

Thinking with all the post making lately, Facebook is teaching patience and perseverance to “Be Still and Wait….Be still and Know…”
Facebook would not allow a post to be made last night on our account opened in 2012. Not this morning either.

So here is a post needed to be made last night…. then one really good post that was to come early this morning shall follow soon. As we all know, plans made in life are brought into fruitation when the time is lined up to be fulfilled. Seems the time is right for now…. hopefully, today… the post MVF plans to share will appear in the time of today!

Yesterday, MVF packed up a house that has lived with Tudie Mom since Santa Claus brought it to her in a home where Walgreens now sits on the corner. When going through the pharmacy drive through at Walgreens it feels like going barefoot, and picking wild sweet peas with cousins in the yard, the side yard of our grandparents. Homes change, the people who live there change plans and new adventures begins.

Back to the story….

Then the house, oh a dollhouse, was packed up, and moved to 1122 Broad Street where furniture, a stone fireplace with little rocks gathered from the Watauga River was created, and summer popsicles were eaten just to save sticks to make the wooden floors. Pencils from 4th grade carved and painted to make a staircase,…. so much creative energy. Years of decorating, sewing, gluing with Elmer’s glue, painting… a lot went in to calling that dollhouse finished. In fact it was never finished until it made its final move.

The dollhouse was just like a real home… loved, curated, designed and lived in through all possibilities. All homes are built to create love and happiness, and hopefully remain for generations to fill it with their own memories.

So Mama and Vera moved that aging dollhouse to The Farmhouse to be enjoyed by guest. Tudie’s Room at our farmhouse was a little like visiting Mount Vernon’s play room…. well in our minds, at least.

So late yesterday, all the furniture was packed up, held, remembered and put in a box. Just like a real home….. packed up. Things given away, items touched, and a lot often left for others. Some donated for further enjoyment. That’s what history does …. leaves items loved for history to take hold of and weave into stories for someone else.

The thing is often in packing up a home, even a dollhouse, warm, most happy tears flow upon items. There they dry and become part of history.

So … so … so yes that beautiful dollhouse of dreams was placed in a bag, loaded up and moved to a new home… and some of the happiness and joy went with it for the family that loved this house. A sheet of music was left, and a sheet of music was taken. Music always welcomes love into a home.

What we believe, and know is the other half of that immense abundant happiness with joy remains there in the creak of the farmhouse floors, the opening of the doors, the flicker of lights… always supporting the memories to come at the highest level of being present in a home.

The Farmhouse, and all of its acreage has changed through years of different caring families. 6 homes, and a possible known 7 homes dating back to Valentine Sevier, John Sevier, The Taylor Families, The Denton Lyons Family, The Lloyd and Peggy Martin Meredith, Leo and Janet McKinney Meredith, Martin Meredith, Vera Meredith Peters, Weston, Cameron Quinn, Mollie, Morgan, Meredith , David, Oliver, Harper, Mari, Jordan , Madeleine, Ethan, Taylor, Anderson and little one to come, have all found valuable time here making this land our homes, while building a future for those to come.

They came. They are here. The new families of MVF. They are digging roots in homes, cabins, campers, and we are happy. Digging dirt and dreaming dreams. Sounds like another few farm families who lived here.

The closing of a journey well lived at Meredith Valley Farm and Cabins happened yesterday…. July 22, 2026.

We relish in the hopes of all who now call this farm their home. May God, and all His magnificant power continue to “Bless this House” and its homes, and may the music of life always linger in the valley.

🌱 Growing love with butterflies…

Of all the things grown on this farm, the raising of butterflies, and specifically monarchs spread enormous amounts of knowledge and interest in the metamorphosis of life. The delicate yellow swallowtail in flight was the kind heart of Meredith before her wedding. She had Hannah Rocket capture this one in our farm garden. So meaningful. Courtney Valentine Daily captured the larva caterpillar and Lisa Baker shared the unique fall picture. All so eloquent of a butterfly’s message of hope.

To see a stalk of milkw**d come up anywhere at MVF brought a rush of life that was a powerful delight and shared with many.

Ask Matthew, who even had to w**d eat around blue taped stalks of milkw**d, as we hoped for monarchs to venture to the zinnias to juice up on nectar, lay eggs for us to gather and prepare the monarchs for their flight to Mexico.

It was an experience carried from the farm, from the gazebo, into special places across the river. One of these special spots was Ms. Virginia’s English Garden. Martin planted her milkw**d there. Such special moments watching life grow with a Ms. Virginia story in her garden.

So sharing pictures of a wealth of butterfly happiness…. even Stevie B. had a kindergarten lesson about raising monarchs. Still looking for that great lawnmower pic of him with a monarch.

You are never too old to raise a butterfly, plant a pollinator garden, especially after sitting in the peace of their world and learning how beautiful their flight begins and ends.

For years Meredith Valley Farm has been in the best of hands with Farm Bureau Insurance. First in Elizabethton with Tom McNeil and Tyler Church. Then under Tudie Mom and Weston’s care at Farm Bureau in Kodak, Tn. MVF became
grounded with the best secure coverage needed.

We appreciate the quick responses to our needs for insurance coverage and proud of Weston Peters as our MVF agent. Cameron took this picture of our barn and barnyard, then had it framed for Weston as a most special family gift.

Nice to stop and spend a moment talking insurance with Weston this morning. ♥️🖤

🩷🐔 🐔 🎄 🔔 All Grown Up

As scrolling through a life time of pictures this morning, a huge realization was noticed…

Sweet Kelsey Frazier Hodge’s time at MVF began as a baby when the honor of becoming Martin’s Godchild was given. Kelsey just shared that he would do anything for her happiness….. and he did.

One Christmas 🎄 morning at Tudie’s Cabin, Martin shared he had a Santa gift to deliver in the barn for Kelsey. Big Sis got to go, and be the photographer for a very special moment’s arrival of rooster and hen, Wilma and Walter. Later came… Wendy, Wynonna, and Wilhelmina. Then later was Donald, Daisy, Dixie, Delilah and Dolly. After that round the chickens became pictures of folly and history.

So Kelsey grew up beautifully here at MVF … high school, college, then one day a much Vera dreamed of Wedding Tea Party on the farm happened. Janet, Pam Norris, and Jackie Harris hosted a really special rainy day Sunday Wedding Tea Party for Kelsey, and then the “ I do” to Jeremy Hodge happened. They did pictures here in the rain, then went to Main Street in JC for the actual wedding. Rain on a tea party day or wedding day guarantees good luck.

We value every moment making memories with Kelsey here. Cheers to life and love, sweet little one all grown, and venturing into the world of success.

♥️ Barn Art

So what do you do when you are an early riser with the roosters and hens? What do you do with an old barn, and a mind so creative? What do you take your favorite niece you love so much to a prom night? You surprise her with….. Flowers, yes, yet wooden beautiful golden, heart created barn art flowers.

So how about that old barn space….

You take that old barn, buy a surprise rooster and hen on Christmas morning for your Godchild, and you start creating the most amazing barn art for many people. That’s what you do.

First, you saw a Christmas tree with a chain saw…. then you start using all the old barbed wire from the farm removed fences and you create, create and create more.

Like Field of Dreams… Barn in a field ….. people came, pets came,… and they sat and they sat and they sat. These friends talked and walked the life of a woodworking shop in a barn. They fixed all the thoughts of the world and local life. Most of all they just loved, and they loved big.

Barn Art became a hobby, then sat up with Merry Mary at Covered Bridge Days, cheered up lots of hopeful buyers, and then Barn Art dwindled into just being fun and sharing the crafts with those who hoped for one.

…..and how does a sister know so much about Barn Art…. well one night while the barn light was burning low, she picked one of Leo’s most fragrant lillies from his front yard, and took it to the barn to her little bro to surprise him. In the barn light, with all the beloved critters, he worked and she sat. Sat watching his hands work with barbed wire to create the magic of a most creative mind. Sat and talked and talked and talked till a very late hour .. in the quiet of a barn.

Both those bros were over the moon creative. Just blows this sissy mind to want to write stories about them on this farm… and wellllllll…. I reckon’ she has.

Barn Art. Martin transformed our barn into a world of wonder. Nothing but pure joy in these shared pictures. Hope you are one who sat with him, and felt that joy too. There are many. ♥️

Time to turn the page, time for an epilogue….yet first, we share one more wedding…. not forgotten… just did not have the pictures. Now we do, for the “I do!”

Always more….

A feel good post full of guest who became more then guest of acquaintances… they become friends for life. Always welcome and always loved. Then it’s a peaceful good night from the farm that many never knew was across the river till they came for an event or chanced upon an overnight stay.

Tonight we are grateful that stories can be posted to Facebook for, yes, marketing to pay the water bills, for the beauty of this place, for building life time relationships and for simply being here.

The first family came with little children who continued to visit until graduation days. They thought Ms. Vera was the ice cream golf cart on the farm… so that’s exactly what Tudie Mom turned her daughter into… The Farm Ice Cream truck.

Again, MVF chooses to simply share pictures, for tonight… that is enough.

Wanted to share Bruce Wayne, the last of MVF farm dogs helping to clean up for weddings on the farm. Many a dog in a golf cart or UTV helped clear off this farm for many weddings. Loved the framed barn picture so shared it just because it’s sweet…. and then the wedding that started all the legacy of MVFarm.

Mama and Daddy’s wedding was held on November 5 at First Christian Church. Good roots, good beginnings, and lots of good years ahead were ahead of them…. just as they are for us.

Going to return to 3 of our very first larger weddings to add good luck 🍀 🍀 🍀to a couple days of posting weddings…. and just feel this set of 3 must be mentioned while promising few words…. maybe…. because besides our own 4 family gatherings of growing love…. these 3 bring warm moments of happy sweet, sweet tears.

Martin was the wedding planner in organizing the first 2, as he was the true instigator of MVF having weddings, after Janet’s cousin Jenny was married here. Many couples asked and heard a simple, “Sure, you can stand under a tree and get married.”

The Cardens….. 2012….. their lives are vested forever here at MVF as after a wedding we showed up for them with the naming of their little girl, Meredith Grace. Such a deserved blessing for Adam and Alisha to welcome Meredith into their home. Then, Alisha showed up for Mama at many hospital visits to be present for her needs. Martin arranged their wedding plans and it was a beautiful day of love. Their family visited here often for pictures. That’s a full circle of life growing love here on the farm.

The Crocketts…. 2009 …… A dream with Lanelle Crockett and Martin Shane together planning Jay and Victoria’s magical day. What a gorgeous wedding this was!
Who could say no to Lanelle? Not Martin! So he rallied a crew, and boy did we ever show up. The grounds were unbelievable with the pop of colors… and guess who made a big debut here? Emmy Morgenstern. It was so incredible to watch her arrange all the plans. Amazing to be part of this joy. Jay and Victoria got a honeymoon ride to the Town Hill by Martin at the end of the wedding. Martin was all heart for a good love story!

The Wittens…. 2019…..Kim follows along, and always encourages our farm post with kind words. Thank you Kim. Kim and Rusty delivered the perfect doors custom made by Rusty. Kelly was a child in Vera’s Sunday school class with those brothers always close by, and Deborah played short stop with a bunch of us ERP women. All good friends and family came together to grow this love. So much work with family went into the presentation Kelly and Ryan dreamed of. Coach Rider, with his bride enjoyed sitting on the porch watching it all line up like a real game of love! Ryan so thoughtfully shared an anniversary picture this past year with us that just teared up some wedding loving eyes on the farm. So kind hearted.

These 3 couples returned to enjoy the farm after weddings for many pictures with us, and all their good energy fluctuates continuously with thankful families.

We in turn say…. Thank you for choosing Meredith Valley Farm and Cabins to begin your lives rooted here in some good Tennessee boot stomping dirt.

Thank you to all couples who joined their love story here with us in the valley or on the river. We often say we wish we had a journal of everyone married here. Many do return for maturity pictures, overnight stay, birthday parties, or anniversary pictures, and it’s always a pleasure to reminisce their wedding day. Hopefully, their desire to return is a confirmation that we did fulfill a purpose here on this farm.

Mama and Daddy’s 4 GRANDchildren planted roots of love here, too. Meredith and David, July 2012, on a hill in the fairy tale woods, and friends from every walk of life; Weston and Cameron, June 2013, with initials carved in the back farm woods and reception at the shed; Ethan and Taylor, September 2019, with a glorious engagement reception at farmhouse shed, and wedding in historical Charleston; then Jordan and Madeleine, October 2022, with a most unique wedding set up, and barn yard gathering to close out a chapter of love here on our farm. Every single measurement of their love is forever grounded here at MVF. We were there, and such a part of each of their lives that our legacy continues to embrace.

Be. Just be. Be there. Be present. Be available. Be enough. Be everything possible as long as life plans a new day going forward.

Guess, we can become part of MVF history soon, and that is a part of our plan. Just be. Be happy.

This farm has wedding stories …. evidently, yes some long writings and some shorter writings on these days of sharing. It’s so hard to limit words when a story begins. Good thing today was learning a new FB trick, so were able find a few more earlier weddings to enjoy.

MVF has no possible way to pay tribute enough to all the photographers who have magically make their cameras speak of the legacy of weddings. The talents of each one are immeasurable, and with every story shared we value each of their unique abilities to capture and embrace the moments for many on this farm.

Thank you, graciously ALL! May we always smile for the camera or IPhone. Your presence at MVF is well catalogued in our minds, and shares in the golden age of laughter, tears, and only the captures your human eyes and camera lenses have witnessed. Oh the stories you all could obviously share!

We hope that MVF has always made you feel welcomed as we return to the treasures of your photography. Peace and life blessings to you all.
