A little transparency from The Flour Shop. 🤍
Serious topic here…
Because as much as I wish it wasn’t becoming an everyday reality, it is.
Let’s face it… I haven’t changed my prices in a very long time. However, over these last few months, I’ve found myself either paying out of pocket or just breaking even. My profit has become pennies, and that’s been a hard thing to face.
It’s been a lot to consider, because Lord knows I don’t want to raise my prices. But I also don’t want to shut down The Flour Shop. And if we’re being completely honest, both have crossed my mind.
I’ve spent years putting hours and hours into growing this business. Learning, improving, finding better ingredients, testing recipes, and working to make everything a little better than it was before. There is always room for improvement, and I know that will continue to come with time.
But the truth is, I can’t keep putting more and more time into something if I’m not making enough to sustain it.
So, with that being said, The Flour Shop will be seeing a small price increase. 🤍
The smaller items are where I struggle the most. Especially when stocking the store, my profit has been almost nonexistent. There are times when I’m essentially baking just to cover the cost of baking.
If you notice some prices changing slightly, this is why.
Our cupcakes have also been at a sale price for over a year, so those will see a small increase as well. However, they will still be nowhere near what they were priced at when we first started.
We aren’t making any major changes, because that isn’t the goal here. I simply need to make this business worth the time, energy, and money that go into it.
There’s the electricity, the water, the supplies, the packaging, the ingredients, and so much more that goes on behind the scenes.
Sometimes, I spend over $400 on supplies just to participate in a smaller event. And that doesn’t even begin to cover the time spent preparing, baking, setting up, and everything that comes afterward.
I’m only sharing these details because I want you all to understand a little more of what goes on behind the scenes.
My butter bill alone for just four days of baking can START at $100. And that’s just one ingredient.
I never want to be the business that prices things unreasonably. I will always do my best to keep our prices fair and affordable while continuing to use the ingredients and put in the work that you’ve come to expect from us.
We love you all more than you know. 🤍
Your support has helped The Flour Shop grow into what it is today, and I don’t take that for granted for a second.
This isn’t about making more just for the sake of making more. It’s about making sure I can continue doing what I love, serving you all, improving my products, and giving The Flour Shop a future.
Sometimes, in order to keep growing, we have to make hard decisions.
And this is one of them.
Thank you for understanding, for supporting our little business, and for continuing to choose The Flour Shop. It truly means more than you know.
