Canaan Farm We own a small dairy herd along with a growing herd of Registered Tarentaise-a dual purpose breed, as well as traditional beef cows.

We provide raw milk, raw milk cheese, and pasture raised beef. We are a Raw Milk Institute listed dairy. Our dairy herd consists of Jersey, Guernsey, and Brown Swiss, along with dual purpose breeds of Tarentaise and Flekvieh. Our beef herd is primarily Tarentaise and Flekvieh, as well as some Angus and Longhorn. Our cows graze on pasture yearlong and are supplemented with hay in the winter months.

Love my momma cows and their new babies. We’re off to a good start of calving season. Maria and Izzy will be back to the milk line soon, but their milk won’t be added to the bulk tank for at least a week after calving - just to make sure all the colostrum and transition milk is gone and to give us a chance to test their milk to ensure it’s customer ready.

So proud of these two cheeses and how they’ve aged and matured; both went off to the Missouri State Fair and both brought home blue ribbons! The right cows make the best milk and great cheese. Canaan Farms Tarentaise Cow Cheese and Canaan Farm Gruyere.

What a blessing we received this morning: went out to bottle feed little Earl, and he had already latched onto momma and emptied her pretty well. Up until this morning we were spending hours starting him with a bottle and leading him to Dasha’s teats, then helping him stay on until he got enough milk. And milking Dasha to make sure she didn’t get engorged.

This little guy came over a month early, during the hottest few days we’ve had this year. He and his momma are doing amazingly well. It took a day for his suck reflex to kick in, and a few days of bottle feeding, but he’s finally latching on to mom. Meet Earl (early), and his momma, Dasha.
