So.

I'm gonna have Mr Murphy expand one of my big duplex pens by making a door between each side so I'll be able to keep 3 former breeding groups in 1 big group.

Going forward, I don't anticipate having full stock LF Brahmas or Icelandics. Instead, the ladies from these groups will join the Rainbow flock in order to develop bigger bodied birds as well as pretty feathers. Since my overall goal is to rebuild the rainbow basket, I'm just focusing on that and not stressing myself over chickens in 400 different places needing 600 different things.

After this little job is done, I'll figure out which bantam breeds we're keeping (if any) and get started on streamlining their housing and care plan.

We've been processing ducks today. No guesses as to what we'll be having for supper 🤣

However, in the midst of this feathery fiasco, I had a mighty epiphany..... If I'd just get the majority of our chickens and ducks moved to new homes with people or given residence at Camp Whirlpool, my day to day life would be tonsssss easier. Less work, Less stress, Less investment in feed, Less aggravation, Less worry and More time to do other things or even take an actual trip.

I think I'm feelin' it. This might be the beginning of the end of my Chicken Army Era.... Just gotta decide who stays as food and who goes on somebody else's feed bill.

I'm pretty sure our 2 folks that requested keets early will be splitting these up. IF we get to hatch anymore in September, I'll let y'all know.

These cooler mornings are giving us a little window to send more ducks off to Camp Whirlpool.

So, if anybody out there in Duck World is in need of a DRAKE or several, we still have some. If you're in need of a duckling maker, let us know ASAP. The temporary holding lot is going back up tomorrow so we can separate and evaluate all these guys for breeding prospects before turning the rest into grocery savings.

👉We won't know our weekend plans until midweek or later, but I'm voting for a weekend at home since we've been at a swap about every weekend since Spring. But, we'll see what's still needing new coops or spots closer to the weekend and decide.
