Whitepine-flats farms This farm is owned and operated by James and Jacob Cummins as a multi-generational farm, currently supporting 4 generations of the Cummins Family.

Whitepine-Flats has been in operation since 1964, experiencing many ups and downs. The farm was a well-known dairy milking over 100 cows, until a tragic fire burned the barn down in May of 1997. James made the decision to sell the dairy cows and start what is now the farms beef herd. Whitepine-flats runs its own herd of beef cows and also custom feeds cattle for people over the winter. The farm puts up over 1800 tons of hay and silage a year, which is sold to loyal customers and used to feed the beef cows. While selling and making hay is the farm's top priority and our backbone, locker beef, locker pork, and custom feeding cattle all play a vital role. The loss of the dairy was the lowest point for the farm but it's now on a steady climb up to place itself back on the map as one of the top farms in the greater Spokane area.

Yesterday we laid grandma lois to rest and had the first Red & White heifer calf we've had on the farm in almost 20 years. With alot of things in agriculture you have to take the good with bad and as we drove grandma to the cemetery she got to, not only see the farm for the last time but, she also got to see our new calf, Marigold. Seemed to be a very fitting thing to happen on the day of grandma's funeral and she now gets to tell grampa Jim that we are still farming and all these years later, we are back in the dairy business. Love ya grandma and farm on!!

Man, what a roller-coaster we've had over the last week! But at least its good news this time. Say hello to Dakotas new calf, Bella!! Her cow Anna had her first calf yesterday and we couldnt be happier. Its sure exciting see the years of work starting to pay off and starting to have our own herd that we picked the semen and bred ourselves. Farm on!!! 😎

Its with a heavy heart that we wanna say Grandma Lois past way... she past away last week surrounded by loved ones in the hospital at the ripe young age of 89. She helped Grampa Jim start this very farm my dad and I run today and was the beginning of the Cummins legacy. I remember many fairs as a kid with my grandma there helping with the show cows and helping wrangle my brothers and I. In her later years she always enjoyed playing cards and for a lot of years she enjoyed heading south in the winter with her motor home. Grandma lived a good life and got to see the rise, the fall and rise again of the farm and gets to go tell grampa that the farm lives on with the next generations of the Cummins family. Love ya grandma and heres to when we meet again, farm on!!!! 😎

The funeral will be Sunday, October 18th at 1pm at the Peaceful Valley Church with a Grange side service at the Elk Cemetery following

What a fair season!! Made it home from yakima fair this afternoon which means our fair season has come to an end. This has probably been the best fair season we've had yet! The kids really stepped up on getting their work done and taking care of their animals this year and with having a calf at Yakima, its just seems to be the cherry on top of the season. I also couldn't do this without my amazing wife Danae and my dad. We are happy to be home but are always sad that its over and can't wait for next year!! Farm on!! 😎
