Trying new things this year. 2 weeks ago we chop 30+ loads of silage off this field. Its an old alfalfa/grass field that was do to come out and start over. Traditionally, we would've terminated this field early spring and planted barley to start our rotational crops. This year we broke out the the ol mold board plow and turned this field under immediately after chopping and planted pearl millet. Pearl millet is a warm season grass that is drought tolerant and makes good cow chow. Lets hope this works! Farm on!! 😎
