UPDATE: Ella had a small litter of 4 pups, 3 female and one male but one female did not live. Due to Ella’s age we’re very pleased with the healthy small litter and all are doing great. ❤️
Announcement! If you’ve been waiting for a chance at a pup from our incredible LGD Ella, now’s your chance! I expect her to have her puppies in a few weeks as she started mammary development last week. These pups are mostly Great Pyrenees and Anatolian with a smaller percentage of Akbash and Spanish Mastiff. This is Ella’s third and last litter as she’s 8 yrs old. She has had ZERO health issues in those 8 years and is a solid working dog that lives with her flocks. Her mother, father and offspring are solid guardians of all types of animals along with being incredibly personable members of the farm and family. They love baby animals and children.
These pups will be born in the flock area so will have exposure to poultry from day one. PM message us if you’d like to reserve a pup.

UGH!! I’m sad to announce that one fertility test came back on the birchen Marans at 10%……… yes you saw that right 😩🤦‍♀️ I still have one going under a broody so we’ll see.

Our young rooster disappeared during our move when there was a gap between lgd coverage. We tried leaving one lgd there to guard but he decided to go camp out the neighbors in heat great pyr/anatolian so we had to bring him up to the cabin before we were ready. Needless to say, we ended up with an absolutely top notch poultry guard dog out of it lol. Sammy is another one of these dogs that guarded at 5 months with zero poultry kills and one great horn owl kill 😍 He’s now a year old and so solid you’d think he was a two year old!
Okay stop rambling, back to marans.
I have a different line of marans that lay those gorgeous speckled eggs. I am going to set those up to breed this year while I try to hatch a new rooster from my original line. I’ve never been impressed with how quickly the fertility goes down in this original line and a young rooster is essential, I swear they are the most laid back, lazy bird ever. He needs a testosterone shot and a hairpiece…….
