In the midst of dealing with some family health issues, I’ve got 205 cookies heading straight for The Barn & Basket Market in the morning. Restock of peanut brittle and Pralines will happen Friday. At the posting of this, it is just before midnight. So, good night, sleep tight, and don’t let the bedbugs bite. 😜

Here you go! Pecan Pralines for your enjoyment!
FYI: it is pronounced; pa-cahn prah-leen

Its origin is found in 1636. Created by the personal chef of a French diplomat. It stared as almonds coated with caramel candy.

It moved to Louisiana, New Orleans area, in the 1700s with Ursuline Nuns and the recipe changed to using milk, cream, butter, and pecans ( because almonds were expensive and hard to come by).

In the 1800s women would make these patties and sell them in the streets. It became a popular way for women to be entrepreneurs and help provide for their families.

So there is a little history of the praline.

Also, I will be dropping a new sweet treat on Monday! If you like pecan praline, definitely look like what I’m bringing on Monday. There would be more to come as the season progressive and you will be updated accordingly.

Good morning from Cedar Grove. Lots going on recently on the farm. Dad (Jerry Siens) and Zeke did some cover crop planting last week, then the Lord let it rain! Wasn’t that a wonderful thing?! Dad has also been doing a bunch of dirt work on our wet weather creek. In animal news, our Cornish cross are growing out beautifully. We have another processing day next weekend!

Now the real story behind this post, our beautiful herd of beef. Unfortunately, we are out of ground beef for resale until we get our steer back from the processor mid November. We will still have steaks, roasts and other various cuts of beef available though at The Barn & Basket Market!! Please, stick with us as we grow to meet the demand. We never dreamed we’d be selling our beef, and we are so honored that you chose to buy your beef from Cedar Grove!
