Paulus Farms

Paulus Farms FOCUSED ON FORAGE - Offering a wide variety of quality hay to best meet the needs of your animals Our goal is to provide both.

It's hard to find consistent quality hay, and often even harder to find good service. We partner with dairies, stables, or individuals and hobby farms to provide what you want when you want it. We are Ben and Brad, brothers raised on a small local dairy farm. Paulus Farms was started in 2016 as we saw a need for quality local grown hay to supply high end stables in the area. We have 40 years combi

ned experience from raising hay on the farm, plus continued insight from the quality control department (Dad). Brad has also achieved certification as an Animal Nutritionist. We have grown to over 200 acres of locally grown grass, alfalfa, and mixed hay. In addition we have developed relationships with suppliers from Canada and Nebraska for quality hay from low-humidity environments. Please feel free to reach out to us to see how we can help you and your animals!

🎶 It's our least favorite time of the year 🎶
This marks the end of the harvest season for us.
Now on to the next one... fixing all the things we duct taped and zip-tied together to make it here 😅... also know as repair season.

That time of year when your hay looks all yellow... but you pull the bales down and they're bright green on the other side, just like you baled it. 🤩

Time for an update since harvest is wrapped up!
Small bale inventory is almost all spoken for, except a little bit of 1st cutting.
We have lots of 3x3 big bales available though, and it's nice stuff! From grass to heavy alfalfa, dry and wrapped, all cuttings, we have something for everyone.
If you haven't tried low moisture wrapped hay, it's a great option including for horses. They can sit outside and save your barn for better things. We even have customers just setting in their pasture for free range feeding throughout winter.

Prices vary, but are lower than the past couple years.
Message us for your needs and we'll find something to suit!

Sometimes we're in awe of our community. This is one of those days. Not 4 hours after we baled hay for Daniel an arsonist destroyed his barn and livelihood. Within 8 hours all the cows were moved to another facility and cleanup began. Today cleanup continues with many bringing their equipment and time to help while rebuilding is planned. Meanwhile a gofundme created by his neighbor with an initial goal of $5000 has blown past as the community rallies to get them back on their feet. Incredible. Stop watching the news of doom and gloom and love others like this.

Hard to believe it's September already and we're working through most of 4th cutting this week. Before we know it the combines will be rolling.

Who else is happy to be done with humidity though?? 😎

We do have plenty of hay available and ARE taking new customers for the first time in a couple years, so if you know someone looking for hay, send them our way!!!

Cow feed special - about 100 bales made a touch too damp last week, some 50/50 and some heavy alfalfa. Probably won't keep without some dust or mold. $3 a bale picked up.

Day 3.
Not quite going as planned for the week, we weren't supposed to break out the plastic. But when they add humidity and rain to the forecast it's sure better to protect beautiful hay.

Trying something a little different on this cutting of hay. Who likes a Mountain Dew when you’re feeling just a little bit rundown? (We sure do). Giving our hayfield a little shot of sugar and nutrients to try and perk it back up after all the heavy rain. Happy hay means happy critters after all.

Focused on Forage

It’s hard to find quality locally grown forage, and sometimes even harder to find good service. At Hoosier Custom Ag it’s our goal to provide both. We partner with dairies, stables, and individuals to supply exactly what you want, when you want it. With over 60 years of collective farming experience, educational background, and even certification as animal nutritionist, we try to grow the hay that best suits you.

We maintain 300+ acres of intensely managed hay including Orchard Grass, Timothy, Meadow Fescue, Festolium, and Alfalfa in a variety of blends. These are not pastures and ditches, so you can rest easy knowing your livestock are not getting weeds or other potentially harmful materials in your feed.

Hay is offered in 14” x 18” small square bales or 3’ x 3’ large square bales. Please message us for availability and prices. Our goal is to be a partner, so current customers take priority on availability. If you struggle with consistent year-round supply, please contact us to discuss your needs.

In addition to hay sales, we offer custom baling and chopping services.
