Hello everyone!
There is a lot of time and thought that has gone into the post I am currently writing. I’ve come to the decision that I will be taking a hiatus from my baking business, I am unsure for how long. I will not be accepting orders, but will be completing the ones I already have taken.
It’s been over 11 years that I have been decorating cakes, and I’ve taken orders almost from the beginning! Baking has been something that I’ve loved for so long, with it being my full time job for around half of the time that I’ve been decorating cakes.
I don’t enjoy not being able to commit the time things need to do them properly, and with the current stage of my life I feel that something has to give. This coming Friday I start a new position at my job that will in some ways give me more freedom and flexibility, but at the same time will also require me to be available for more. My boyfriend and I this year also had the opportunity to finally do what we’ve talked about for several years and start our own venture together, ! This is bringing new chances for us to expand artistically and build a brand and business together.
It is so humbling to even feel like I need to make a post saying I’m taking a break, because I have a wonderful, loyal clientele that I know will be asking. I’m incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to be a part of so many people’s special moments in their lives. When you’re making an order it’s easy to disconnect from what it’s going to, and when I sit down and think about how something I made was in someone’s wedding, their gender reveal, their birthdays, celebrations of life, such important moments it’s truly such an honor.
Cake decorating is still something I have so much love for, and it has been very rewarding for me to be able to explore the same techniques in different mediums and make art that brings me the same joy as cakes always have.
I want to say thank you to everyone who has supported me, from ordering, interacting, and cheering me on. Thank you.
