With a sad heart, I am here to share that 532 went to cow heaven 🪽
I have known for just over a week that I would have to write this sooner rather than later.
It wasn’t until Dexter told me yesterday to say goodbye, that we knew today was the day. God willing or if we had to make that decision. She went down hill fast and 4 days ago she laid down and wouldn’t get back up. My Dad had been feeding and watering her for 4 days. There was no sign of improvement. It came down to a quality of life…we knew it, she knew it, & God knew it!
This morning, Beau went to check on her. He came back to say she wouldn’t wake up. God made the decision for us!
If you have been following us for awhile, I have talked a lot about 532 or big Bertha or big girl or big beluga…just depends what I wanted to call her for the day
If you are new here…532 is one of our OG cows. She lived a long life…14 years, 3 months, & 12 days to be exact! She got her nicknames not because she was fat, but because she was a big ol’ softy of a cow.
During her prime, she weighed more than the bulls. During her prime and pregnant, she wouldn’t even fit in our chute system.
She gave us 16 calves from AI or herd bull, produced 42 Viable Embryos & I can still count the number of heifers she gave us on 1 hand…but she could produce bulls on any given year.
I will miss her bringing up the rear every preg check & seeing her with her calves on pasture. We put her last 3 embryos in this spring and I pray we get at least one to stick!
Saying goodbye wasn’t hard. She lived a life of luxury being the big ol momma cow. It just doesn’t make it any less sad! We will miss you!!

At the beginning of the month, Dexter and I said we wanted to have a month about the boys; so we did…
🎆Fireworks with Friends
🔥Had fires for roasting with dance parties
🏕️3 of the 4 boys went camping with family
🛏️ So many sleepovers
🎂Celebrated Beau
🍻Celebrated 13 years married
⚾️Beau finished Baseball
🏫 Jace finished Summer school
🎣 Had spontaneous fishing/cookouts with Jacob
👦 Met my newest nephew & saw Tyler & Morgan
🛼Went roller blading for the first time since high school
🦷Gabi Cleaned Teeth
🐍 The boys got to hold snakes- Clay loved it!!
🍦 Ate our body weights in Icecream
👩🏻‍❤️‍👨🏼 Had date nights
🌧️ We finished the month out with a million dollar rain
🐮 We farmed too 😂 worked with fair calves, combined rye, cut hay, still calving, prayed for rain a lot, preg checked AI cows, semen tested some bulls, put bulls with cows, spray painted corn & watched it grow, planted forage into fields, got poopy too many times, and still praying to God for a safe year!
August has big britches to fill because July was so memorable❤️❤️
