Tin Lennys

🎄 HEY FRIENDS — WE NEED CHRISTMAS TREES! 🎄

Tin Lennys is working on something very special for Light Up Elkin, and we’re looking for Christmas tree farmers, local growers, businesses, organizations, or community members who might be willing to help us make it happen.

We are hoping to acquire at least 30 real Christmas trees — and hopefully even more.

We would be incredibly grateful for donated trees, but we’re also interested in connecting with growers who may be able to offer trees at a reduced or bulk rate.

And here’s the part we’re most excited about:

❤️ After Light Up Elkin, we plan to give the trees away to local families who otherwise may not be able to afford a Christmas tree this year.

We’ll even help deliver the trees the day after Light Up Elkin.

So the trees that help us create a little Christmas magic downtown for one evening can go on to become part of Christmas morning in homes throughout our community. 🎄✨

There is much more to come about what we’re planning for Light Up Elkin, but right now, we need your help finding the trees!

If you are a Christmas tree farmer, know someone who is, have access to trees, would like to sponsor a tree, or simply want to contribute to this project in some way, please reach out.

📞 Lenny: 803-955-1133
📍 Or stop by Tin Lennys, 221 East Main Street, Elkin

And if you can’t contribute a tree, sharing this post could help us reach someone who can.

Thank you so much for always showing up for us and for one another. We are SO excited for the holiday season and cannot wait to create a little Christmas magic with all of you.

🎄❤️ Let’s light up Elkin — and then send that light home with families who need it.

✨🌿 YOU GUESSED IT… PRACTICAL MAGIC.

The herbs. The moon. The little clues. The things growing behind the glass…

Our very first Tin Lennys seasonal window is inspired by PRACTICAL MAGIC. 🌙🔮🌿

And TOMORROW, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, we’re celebrating.

Not just a new window.
Not just a new season.

But this little community we are so incredibly grateful to be a part of.

Tin Lennys will be OPEN 10 AM–10 PM, and you’re invited to drop in anytime throughout the day. We’ll turn up the shenanigans starting around 4 PM and we will have a variety of events through out the season.

🌙 THE WINDOW REVEAL
Our very first seasonal window display will be glowing after dark

🌿 DROP-IN DIY STATIONS
Come make something while you’re here! Build a bouquet, blend your own herbal tea, and more.

🍸 THREE NEW SIGNATURE COCKTAILS AT ATB BREWING
Our amazing friends across the street at ATB Brewing have created THREE new cocktails for this collaboration, featuring herbs and fruit from Tin Lennys.

Grab a cocktail, cross the street, shop, make something, stay awhile. That’s exactly the kind of downtown we love.

🎁 FREE GIFT WITH $50+ PURCHASE
Spend $50 or more and we’ll send you home with a special Tin Lennys gift tucked inside the cutest little reusable shopping bag, while supplies last.

We’ve also expanded our inventory to include a selection of locally crafted ci**rs from our farmer friends at Smiling Beef Farms, and the Surry County Farmers Collective is stocked with locally grown and produced goods.

Because this part matters to us enormously:

When you spend your money with a local farmer, artist, maker or small business, that money does something.

It helps someone plant another crop.
Buy another canvas.
Make another batch.
Keep creating.
Keep farming.
Keep a storefront open.
Keep a small downtown alive.

Shopping small is an investment in the place you call home.

And we want Tin Lennys to be one of those places where all those pieces of community can meet.

Tomorrow you’ll also get the first look at our upcoming calendar of events, with sign-ups opening for classes, workshops, gatherings and all sorts of things we’ve been dreaming up.

You don’t have to have a reason to come through our door.

That might be our favorite part.

🌿 Botanical & herbal projects
🍂 Fall makes
✨ Whimsical little creations
…and quite a few things we aren’t telling you about just yet.

We want Tin Lennys to be more than somewhere you shop.

We want it to be somewhere you do things.

Somewhere you make things with your hands.

Somewhere your kids remember going.

Somewhere you walk in alone and end up talking to somebody you didn’t know before.

Somewhere there is always something a little unexpected happening.

And on September 12th, a whole new season begins.

But first…

🔮 THE FINAL CLUE. 🔮

There may be rosemary by the garden gate…
but when the clock strikes midnight,
you’d better have the limes ready. 🍋‍🟩🌿✨

If you know… you KNOW. 😉

I loved Dolly because of the way she lived. Because of the way she loved.

She came from Appalachia and carried the mountains with her into an extraordinary life she built for herself.

She could be brilliant without being pretentious. Successful without forgetting people. Glamorous without taking herself too seriously. Strong without losing her tenderness.

And she loved people.

Not selectively. Not only people who looked like her, lived like her or believed like her.

People.

She believed in children and put books into their hands.

She believed in imagination and creativity.

She believed in family, neighbors and community. She knew what it means to be a friend.

She understood that where you come from matters, but it doesn’t have to determine how far you go.

And she seemed to understand something I believe with all of my heart, that we should use our lives to make the world around us better.

She has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up in a family of musicians, went on to build a life in the music industry, and then watched my children love her too.

Stella has adored Dolly since before she could talk. She’s ten now, playing multiple instruments, writing and singing her own songs. Dolly is one of the women who showed my little girl just how big a life built around music, imagination and love can become.

That means something to me that I can’t really put into words.

And when I look around Tin Lennys, I realize that so many of the things I love about Dolly already live here.

The music and books. The artists and farmers. Children creating things. Flowers. Nature. Imagination and creativity. Neighbors taking care of neighbors. People from completely different walks of life finding themselves in the same room. And the belief that life should have a little magic in it.

Everybody is welcome. Everybody matters.

That’s the kind of place I want Tin Lennys to be.

So we will honor Dolly here, not just now, while the world is remembering her, but in the life of this place going forward.

There are things we’re already dreaming up that I think will make that promise especially meaningful in the months ahead.

For now, I keep coming back to one thought.

If Dolly walked into Tin Lennys, I don’t think I would have to explain very much.

I think she would look around at the children, the books, the flowers, the music, the art, the farmers and the neighbors gathered together.

And she would understand.

She would know.

And most of all, I hope she would feel at home.

Love,
Lenny
