Our last big harvest of the year went out last week! Winter on a farm is still busy with planning and building infrastructure for the season ahead, but we take some time to rest through the darkest days and decorate a little tree that we cut out of the fence row.

We’ve been dreaming of building this field for the last three years when it was still a rocky hilltop rooted with johnson and bermuda grass. We covered it with silage tarps back in 2023 and finally took the tarps off last month while we had a dry stretch of weather to work with. It was a little rockier than we expected and we will need to replace several tines on our rototiller, but we were able to loosen up the soil enough to build 16 more permanent beds and got everything seeded before the rain. It has been a lot of fun witnessing this veggie vision slowly manifest over time.
