Dude man came over when I was outside on my porch again — he found the picture he wanted to show me.
I was like oh yeah, that is cool. It legitimately was. And instead of just showing me and leaving he started to lean into the railing like he was settling in.
I was just like, I don’t mean to be rude, but I do not want you in my space. I’m sitting here painting and want to continue to sit here in peace.
He was like oh, I’m leaving. And I just looked at him like — oh really? — I literally just saw you trying to get comfortable. I didn’t say that, but umm — that’s a lie. That wasn’t what you were doing.
But anyway, it made me think about my other neighbor who also stops by on occasion —
He’ll walk over to the sidewalk and won’t even breech into my yard until I have acknowledged his presence in some way.
And he can tell from my level of engagement how interested I am with chatting with him right then. He doesn’t just assume he’s entitled to my energy, so for that I give him grace.
Barging in like I owe you something ain’t it. Ask permission in some way — it doesn’t even need to be verbal communication for me to understand the respect you’re showing (or lack there of).
Why we’re taught to endure such madness for the sake of politeness is beyond me.
It’s all just so fu***ng weird. All of these made up rules we follow. If some s**t doesn’t align with you — change your belief. I believe that fu***ng rule is stupid.
You can think I’m a dick, that’s cool. Leave my space. Now I don’t have to keep telling you to go away or keep tolerating your disruption. Brilliant. This new rule actually works for me.
It really is that simple. Stop letting other people create your rules.
Have the courage to speak your truth. Let go of the things that no longer serve you.
Now he’s probably simmering in his shame projecting onto me like I did something to him. It’s so fu***ng backwards.
I mean, I’m just assuming s**t, I don’t know this. But I kind of fu***ng know this.
If you want to actually understand why you were rejected? Stop and think from someone’s else’s perspective for a minute.
What was the other person protecting themselves from?
Is this something you could work on or something you actually like about yourself?
That’s how you know what to keep or let fall away.
These are the blockages that keep people from receiving what they want in life.
Think about how you were behaving and why someone might not have been able to accommodate your needs right then.
If you’re feeling hurt by something, sit with it a minute. Don’t take it personal, understand
the situation — fully. Then act in alignment with what comes to light.
I’m a fu***ng oracle now, by the way. lol
