Blue Sky Farms / First Coast Fresh

08/08/2024

At Blue Sky Farms, we believe in sharing the abundance with our community. Traders Hill Farm, along with many other local growers, share those beliefs as we all do what we can to help our neighbors during difficult times. We are proud to give back to the people that give so much of themselves every day!

Teamwork makes the dream work! This baby is full nose to tail with potatoes heading to our friends at Feeding Northeast Florida. It's been a rough week with weather delays, road closures and mechanical issues. Thank you to all the team members who worked hard to make this happen. Thank you also to our friends a Blue Sky Farms / First Coast Fresh for growing amazing potatoes that our First Coast community will enjoy.

The day we have all been waiting for has arrived. We are washing and grading our Violet Queen sweet potatoes this week. I will be calling everyone on our list that wanted to come to the farm to purchase later in the week. Those of you that are a little further away, look for these beauties at a Wal-Mart near you just in time for the holidays!

It is a beautiful day here at Blue Sky Farms! As our illustrious leader, Danny Johns, is known to say, "It don't get no better than this!"

We are busy cutting in our cover crop to get the land ready for planting. Have you ever wondered why farmers plant cover crops? Here are a few reasons why we do what we do:

*Control w**d growth
*Prevent soil erosion
*Increase soil tilth

Feel free to contact our farm for a tour if you're interested in learning more about our operations.
