Our first hiker of the 2026 season! It was a pleasure to host Mark during his thru hike. It's always bittersweet meeting such wonderful people, then knowing our paths may never cross again. Thanks for bringing some laughter to the dinner table last night! We'll be wishing you well through the remainder of your hike and beyond!

The Small Axe Farms hostel in Elkton, VA (5 miles from the Swift Run Gap entrance of Shenandoah National Park at mile 910 NOBO) is now open for the 2026 season!

We have several levels of rustic barn overnight accommodation (barn floor - your sleep system; two barn private rooms with heated mattresses and linens). There's a new farmhouse apartment with a queen bed, private bathroom, kitchenette, heat/AC, a well! All guests have access to a robust hiker resupply "store" and the option for homecooked meals! Bonus: cute farm animals for your viewing enjoyment. 🐑🐕🦆🐐🐓🐖🐈

Meal for some recent Duck Inn B&B guests. Homemade chicken and bean soup with Caesar salad (homemade dressing) and parmesan crostini.

Our barn hostel will also be opening in a few weeks for those happy with more rustic accommodations.

This pretty thing had a big day yesterday! She went to the vet and had a cast put on her broken leg. It'll take a few months, but we hope it heals and she can go back out to the pasture.

Please send prayers and all the good stuff for quick, complete healing and a return to her normal life.

Snow day at the farm! ❄️🥶❄️

We released some of the boys into the pasture with the ladies yesterday... looking forward to baby lambs in May! 🐑💕🐏 It will be a very welcome change to have them born in warmer weather!
