Rough morning...turned All day. Large heifer born in the worst weather of this winter. Wet snow the day before, freezing rain and wind overnight, and she was born in cold wet icy mud around 3am. We didn't find her until after 9 am severely hypothermic. Old milk barn heater, dog blanket (a really good blanket) and a half bale of straw, along with vigorously rubbing. HOURS later, about 2-3 am, she wiggled out of her cocoon ...a nearly normal calf!

She still has to stand, but she drank a half bottle (milked from her mom), no stomach tube needed. So not completely well, but SO much better than when we found her.

Steer calves 2025 and the last picture is their sire, Danny Boy. Not all are pictured, I think I missed the youngest. I haven't taken pictures of the heifers either.

Snow has left for a while, but it is back. In the past I would have been beginning my calving season, but I changed it to start March 1. I can always have an early one late February. Property still on the market, so cows will be calving here.

January feeding. This is the remainder of my brood cows, 16 pregnant, and my herd sire. 2 won't move with the herd when the farm sells, just part of the decision process. Not pictured are the 4 replacement heifers, still not certain of making the herd.

Half went to livestock yard Thursday. 2 Herefords and 2 crossbreeds will stay as replacements, since 2 cows had to go to market with the calves. The other 5 head are waiting for pickup for their new homes. 3 will be pampered for next year's livestock shows. The other 2 are possibly herd replacements for another operation.😁

2024 weaning has begun!

1 pound, 5 ounce chubs! $8 per chub ($6.49 a pound). Hereford (purebred) ground beef! No antibiotics. No hormones. I have well over a hundred pounds, but no minimum purchase. Want to buy one to try before you buy 50 pounds?😁 I'm perfectly happy with doing that.

'Scarlet' yearling registered heifer is still available for sale. $2,000 until she is bred. My bull doesn't have light weight calves, so I won't consider breeding her until Winter, for fall calving. Until that time she's available for purchase.
