Sleepy Chicken Farm

We are a small organic farm located just east of Ellensburg. We currently sell fresh, organic, free range chicken eggs. $8 a dozen.

We also rent poultry processing equipment including plucker and everything you need to grow your own. We keep an open door policy on the farm. we happily invite visitors to see how our eggs, produce, chickens and turkeys are raised.

Our organic greens mix will be ready soon. I love the texture and flavor mix here with crunchy Frisee to sweet Buttercrunch and in between. So much variety you will love it.

Empty pot round up, have extra 4inch tall square pots from your planting season you hate to throw away? Consider dropping them off on the farm for years of re use.

We specifically are looking for 4" tall pots that are square shaped as they allow for more plants per tray.

Feel free to driveway drop near the gate at 2851 game farm rd. We have milk crates out for collection and keep them from blowing away in our eburg wind.

Our amazing silkie hatched 4 beautiful chicks. We are hopeful they grow and are healthy. My mini me's have ensured they are now in a huge and glamorous nursery. Luckily there are 4 of us in the family, so we each name one. Hopeful they all make it.

Garden update: our cover crop is coming in nicely. It will provide a green blanket which holds moisture, and adds nutrients back into the soil. Last year we ended up with the biggest amount of lady bugs and praying mantis I have ever seen. Guess growing natural brings more good bugs go figure.

The girls huge garden update is in full swing. We tarped the grass and plan to till it soon. But fun fact we pulled the tarp back and found 2 beautiful gardener snakes. They quickly left for another spot in the garden luckily.

Did you know gardener snakes eat bugs and mice? They are a great helper just like the lady bugs and praying mantis. It takes a team to grow well and we are so thankful

BLOWOUT SALE. 2851 game farm rd

Dollar each Sale coming this friday 5/22 through 5/24. each plant start is just $1 each, that means each huge 6pack, 4" and 2" are all just one buck.
Dont worry now is the perfect time to plant, we are frost free and our peppers are ultra strong being started in December. They are small as we dont heat the greenhouse but are incredibly strong. All have been hardened to our wind making them way better than nursery grabs in my opinion.

Garden update. Thanks to our amazing chickens and endless supply of wood chips our garden is looking great. I love the wood chips to help with the living rows ( plants we cut down like a lawn and walk on) they provide w**d suppression and nutrient replenishment plus the most lady bugs and praying mantis i have ever seen.
We highly recommend a living row, im trying several types this year; a daikon radishes row,
A ground cover row from Old Mill Country Store , and a dry bean row. Im so excited to try multiple types and support local.

Today we planted Beets, lettuce, turnips, spinach, carrots and Swiss chard.

Mothers day is the annual mark in the valley to plant tender plants outside.
So get outside and get in the dirt with our organic and heirloom starts. Come visit the roadside stand any time. If im not mowing the lawn or tending the garden feel free to use the honor system and leave cash or venmo us.

Our meat birds are officially on pasture!!!! We are very excited to have our organically raised birds start enjoying the good life on pasture. Bring on the bugs, grass and seeds that now make up 30-40% off their diet statistically.

One huge benefit is that it slows their growth and increases their health exponentially. The great symptom of this health is an amazing flavor. These birds not only are more healthy but more delicious.

This year we are helping folks gain access to organically raised chicken by cost sharing. If interested here are the details;

We cost share based by splitting the birds processed by the costs. I dont make any money we simply share the costs evenly. I raise them and coach folks through processing day.

Speaking of processing day, each family is required to commit an adult on june 7th on thr farm for 8hrs. We will walk together through processing a live bird to a frozen bird. We gladly help walk folks through and learn the process. We help put them into a roll that best suits each person. But know its 8hrs of on your feet work and a great time with amazing folks. Its always a fun time with a positive attitude and vibes on the farm.

We only have 50 birds available this year so commit soon to reserve your birds. If you dont make the cut we will likely do more next year. Cheers yall and happy farming.

Our "teen" chicks are roosting. Yes, this means those chicks are learning to roost up on the bars which is their natural instinct to be up and safe from predators.
Dont tell them...hush hush but the coop closes each night at dark.
But these amazing Leghorn chicks will be laying some amazing white eggs this summer. Looking forward to a bigger rainbow of colors this year. Admittedly white isnt the most pretty but this breed cranks out the eggs and happily. Meaning you get a high quality product as always and with lower feed costs than those beautiful blue and green eggs. Dont worry those arent going away but leghorns cant be bested for flavor and quality. Get cracking and get to know it
