ask any of our cousins what their favorite IHB event is and they'll say dirtbag carnival without hesitation. unless they didn't hear the question because working around machinery has caused hearing problems amongst the crew.
the tricky part is trying to explain what it's all about to the uninitiated. it's like a carnival with games and entertainment, but sh*tty and grimy. for dirtbags. like us brewery folk.
brewing is hard, gross work. it doesn't have the same kind of glamour you might see in a wine magazine, where beautiful symmetrical-faced people in white flowy attire sip out of pristine glasses at sunset overlooking a vineyard... brewing is gnarly. earlier today we asked our big head brewer [ jake ] why he shaved his beard - he said it had to go because he was cleaning out the slurry tank and the smell of death, funky bacteria and decay went too deep into his pores, causing his beard to smell like a co**se.
christina said she's gonna write a blog about the significance of dirtbag carnival, so keep an eye out for that, but that's the gist. we're in a dirty business, we work hard, and we play lots harder.
so [ join us ] for dirtbag carnival 2026 on saturday, september 12th. it's a different flavor of fun and not for everyone, but if you have a little dirtbag in ya, this is the place to let it out.
also, huge [ thanks. ] to for his incredible work on this year's dirtbag photo shoot. good to know a solid photographer who accepts beer as payment.
