🥃 ALEX’S SCOTCH PICK — TORABHAIG SOUND OF SLEAT

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…I really like what Torabhaig is doing.

And if you hear peated Scotch and immediately think SMOKE BOMB, don’t let that scare you away from this one.

Sound of Sleat is layered, balanced and incredibly enjoyable. I actually found the smoke to be pretty subtle—it sits more in the background and lets the fruit, sweetness and character of the wh**ky come through.

I get orange and apricot, honey, a little sea salt, oak and that soft touch of smoke tying everything together. Torabhaig describes their style as “Smoke with Taste,” and I think that fits this wh**ky really well.

The new oak brings a little more wood influence than I personally prefer, but overall, this is another release that shows me just how nicely Torabhaig’s wh**ky continues to develop.

If you’ve been curious about peated Scotch but don’t want the smoke to overpower everything else, you need to give this one a try.

Twenty-five years later, we still think about how ordinary that September morning began. People heading to work. A cup of coffee. A goodbye at the door, expecting to be home that evening.

That’s what stays with us. The lives lost. The families waiting. The people who rushed to help and those still carrying the pain of that day.

We also remember how we took care of one another afterward. We could use more of that kindness today. Amen.

To everyone missing someone: we remember with you. Your loved ones haven’t been forgotten. 🇺🇸
