Managing our crops and bees through pest problems is tough, especially when you employ organic practices and are animal lovers 🙋‍♀️. First pic below is last year, the second is this year. Skunks can really upset bees by raiding the hives at night and eating all the bees they can grab. We had troubles with that last year. BUT NOT THIS YEAR! We doubled the height of our hives AND modified the entrances to be higher so they can’t reach anymore! 💪 We’re getting better as keepers every year and conquering these stressors to the bees humanely, and still making delicious, raw and pure honey! 🍯 ❄️

We caught a black bear eyeing up on our hives on the trail camera Saturday! Luckily he didn’t go any further and the hives are doing fine. We’ve named him Winnie for obvious reasons!

Shots from our trail cams the last couple days! Ski Country has been in the bullseye of the lake effect snow bands this week and we’re loving it! 🎿 ❄️

Check out this beautiful capped honey we pulled at the Ellicottville farm! The bees have been feasting on our blueberry plants and on 100 acres of wildflowers and forest all summer long to make this delicious sweet treat!

The plan was to harvest our lavender this morning, but the bumbles were enjoying themselves way too much! We’ll give them another day or two to gather as much as they can!

This is what 1,400 blueberry plants look like, staged at the farm so we can plant them this summer. Hopefully we get some rain-free weekends so we can get all these planted before football season!

We started out this morning at about 6:30 to take advantage of the cool temps and beautiful scenery on the farm. We were able to wire up the solar fence charger to help protect the bees from bears, which are really common this time of year.

Beautiful day! The blueberries 🫐 we’re going to plant in the next couple weeks look so healthy, and the fence is energized! ⚡️

We'll be planting 1,400 additional blueberry bushes this summer, as long as the weather cooperates! One more year of planting and preparing, and we should be open for our first season of picking in 2026!!!
