There’s a little bit of care happening in our grow houses around the clock. 🌙🌱
We always say “mushrooms never sleep,” because when they’re ready, we’re ready. It might be 3 AM when a shiitake decides it’s time… or 8 PM when the oysters are having a little growth spurt. Whenever they call, we’re there. 🍄
Checking. Harvesting. Tending. Making sure each mushroom gets the love and attention it needs to become the very best little mushroom it can be,and eventually, the very best one to land on your fork. 🍴
And we’ve got a little something for everyone. Because we’re not your grandma’s canned mushrooms. 😉 From buttery shiitakes to delicate oysters and hearty lion’s mane, we’re here to show you just how delicious mushrooms can be.

Our **U-Pick Flowers are open DAILY** at Ellijay Mushrooms! 🌼🌿 There’s something a little dreamy about strolling through the blooms, choosing your own bouquet, and taking home a handful of flowers grown right here, locally. 💐

🐝🍄 BEE-hind the scenes at the Mushroom homestead!

Take a look at our tiny but mighty crew! Our honey bees! 🐝 They can visit thousands of flowers in a single day, and it takes about 12,000 bees working together to make just one teaspoon of honey. Talk about teamwork! 🍯
Our beekeeper, Mark, keeps a close eye on the hives and makes sure our girls are happy, healthy, and buzzing along. 🌼🐝
Did you know the worker bees are female? Talk about girl power!

🖤✨ There’s a little bit of magic hiding in the flowers at Ellijay Mushrooms…
If you’ve spent time wandering through our U-Pick flower fields, you’ve probably noticed one of our most frequent visitors….. the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail! 💛🖤 These gorgeous butterflies seem to float from bloom to bloom, their bright yellow wings flashing in the sunshine as they search for their next sip of nectar.
And those unmistakable little “tails”? They aren’t just for looks! 🦋 They can actually help fool predators into thinking the butterfly’s head is at the back end, pretty clever for something that looks like it belongs in a fairy garden. ✨
With wings that can stretch nearly 5 inches across, Tiger Swallowtails are hard to miss as they drift through our flowers. And because they’re busy visiting bloom after bloom, they’re also helping with pollination along the way. 🌸
So when you come to pick your own bouquet, take your time. Listen to the bees, watch the flowers sway, and keep an eye out for those golden wings dancing through the garden. 🌼🦋
You might come home with a beautiful bouquet… but you’ll leave with a little bit of the magic, too. 💛

🐝🍯 Happy World Honey Bee Day! 🍯🐝
Around here at Ellijay Mushroom, we appreciate our honey bees. They may be small, but they sure do a BIG job! 🌻
A few fun bee facts:
🐝 Honey bees help pollinate many of the fruits, vegetables, and flowers we enjoy.
🌼 One little worker bee can visit thousands of flowers in her lifetime.
💃 Bees even have their own “waggle dance” to tell their hive mates where to find the good stuff!

And we’re super thankful for our wonderful beekeeper, Mark, who takes such good care of our busy little bees. 💛

Now for the sweet news… 🍯👀 You won’t have to wait too much longer to get your hands on some of our very own honey! Our farm-fresh honey will be making its way to the farm store soon… make sure to follow to be the first to know when the drop is happening!

We’re pretty excited to share a little taste of what our bees—and Mark—have been working so hard on. 🐝🍯

🍄 GET TO KNOW US FARM STORE EDITION✨
Today we’re introducing you to Liam, one of the friendly faces behind the counter at our farm store!
Since joining the Ellijay Mushrooms team in April 2025, Liam has become a familiar face to our customers and a big part of what makes the farm store so fun. Their favorite mushroom is the classic shiitake, which regularly finds its way into salads, miso tofu ramen, and chicken noodle soup. 🍄‍🟫
Liam is also a big fan of our friends at Messner Bee Farms, with the Monarch solid cologne being a particular favorite. The spicy clove scent is hard to beat! (You can smell just like them and purchase your own in the farm store!)
Outside of the farm, music is the main hobby. One thing we love is when Liam is on the AUX! Between collecting CDs and records and catching live shows whenever possible, there’s rarely a shortage of something to listen to. 🎶
One thing Liam would love to see make its way to Ellijay? A Sonic Drive-In. Because sometimes nothing will do but a real fruit slush and a hot corn dog… and you know what… we couldn’t agree more!
The dream vacation is a little more ambitious: Primavera Sound in Barcelona or Glastonbury in the UK are both high on the list.

And when it comes to the best part of working at Ellijay Mushrooms, it’s the people. Getting to meet mushroom lovers of every kind….from those just beginning to get curious about fungi to expert foragers who regularly share their knowledge, it makes every day a little different.

We’re so grateful to have Liam as part of the Ellijay Mushrooms family. 💚 They have a way of lighting up the farm store, making everyone laugh, and turning even the busiest days into something a little brighter. We’re lucky to have their kindness, humor, and infectious energy on our team. 🍄✨
