Have you spotted our brand-new gem mining station yet? We’ve added another hands-on experience to the farm, and we couldn’t be more excited for y’all to come check it out! 💎

Our mining area was **handmade with lots of care**, creating a special little spot where kids and grown-ups alike can roll up their sleeves, sift through the treasures, and see what gems they uncover. Who knows what colorful finds are waiting for you! 🪨💎

And of course, we had to get Liam in on the fun! 😉 Whether you’re visiting with the family, exploring the farm, or just looking for something new to do in Ellijay, our new gem mining station is one more reason to make a day of it.

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming New Ellijay TV to Ellijay Mushrooms! 🌿 For those who may not know, New Ellijay TV is a community-powered television network and streaming platform sharing local stories, news, events, entertainment, and the people who make our North Georgia community so special. We love seeing local storytellers shine a light on the wonderful things happening right here in our own backyard!

Some mushrooms just know they’re better together. 🍄🍄

These two shiitakes decided to grow side by side, and we have to say… we love a good partnership. 🤎 They’re basically the mushroom version of that friend who’s always down for an adventure, a little exploring, and a stop at the farm store along the way.

So consider this your sign to tag your best friend, mushroom buddy, or partner-in-crime and make plans to come see us! 🌿

Take a walk around the farm, see what’s growing, browse the farm store, and of course, pick up some fresh mushrooms to take home for dinner. Because everything tastes a little better when you’ve got someone to share it with.

There’s something special about meeting the people who spend their time discovering all the places that make Georgia worth exploring. 🌿🍄
Recently Jamar Jeffrey of Jamar Explores Georgia visited Ellijay Mushrooms, where he wandered the farm, learned a little more about what we do, and captured his experience for his YouTube channel. Naturally, we had a few questions of our own.
Jamar’s journey into social media wasn’t exactly planned. He tells us he was going through a funk when one morning he decided it was time to make a change. That change started with a hike to the floor of Tallulah Gorge and a few B-roll clips posted to TikTok. The result? 1.2 million views in his first week. And from there, he simply never stopped.
Today, that love for exploring has grown into a community of fellow adventurers through Explore Georgia Hiking Club, bringing people together to discover the trails, beauty, and hidden gems Georgia has to offer.
When he’s not exploring Georgia, you might find him at Beau-tiful Creations in Ellijay, where the splatter paint room has become one of his favorite places. There’s something therapeutic about slinging paint, he says, and we have to agree that a little creative chaos can be good for the soul.
His mushroom pick? Lion’s Mane, of course. 🦁🍄
And what’s next on Jamar’s adventure list? A little bit of everything: skydiving, visiting all the Georgia State Parks he hasn’t made it to yet, and a deep-sea fishing trip.

Our self-guided tours give you the freedom to wander around the farm, take your time, and get a closer look at what goes into growing the mushrooms you know and love.
As you explore, you’ll learn more about the growing process, see the different stages of mushroom cultivation, and discover some of the behind the scenes work that happens here every day. There’s plenty to look at, plenty to learn, and maybe even a few things you didn’t expect to find on a mushroom farm. 🍄
It’s a great way to spend a little time outside, bring the kids along, introduce someone to the world of mushrooms, or simply enjoy a slower afternoon in Ellijay.

October has a way of making everything feel a little more magical. 🍂✨
The mornings come wrapped in a cool mountain breeze, the leaves begin their slow dance from green to gold, and the farm starts to settle into its coziest season.
We love this time of year at Ellijay Mushrooms, when the mountains put on their autumn show and the days feel just a little sweeter.
But there’s a bittersweet part of fall, too. 🌼
Our U-pick flower fields will slowly begin to rest for the season. As the nights grow colder, our blooms begin to slow down, reminding us that nothing on the farm stays the same for very long.
So, if you’ve been dreaming of wandering through the flowers, filling your hands with a little bouquet, and soaking up those last warm afternoons among the blooms… come see us while they’re still here. 🌸
Soon the fields will quiet, and the mountains will be covered in their autumn colors.
For now, we’re standing right in the middle of it all mushrooms growing, flowers blooming, leaves changing, and October doing what October does best. 🍄🍁

🍎✨ There’s a certain kind of feeling that happens in Ellijay when October rolls around, and while you’re planning your Apple Fest trip we wanted to remind you to add a little magic…

The apples start blushing in the orchards, the mountains turn golden, and suddenly the whole town feels like it stepped straight out of a storybook. 🍂

For more than 50 years the Georgia Apple Festival has been bringing folks together to celebrate one of the things Ellijay is best known for — its apples, its makers, its music, its food, and the people who make this mountain town feel like home.

This year, the festival takes place **October 10–11 and October 17–18**. 🍎

And while you’re wandering through all the apple-filled goodness, come wander our way, too.

We will be open as well so come say hello, breathe in some mountain air, peek at what’s growing, and maybe take home a little something from the farm for your fall table.

Come for the apples.

🍄 A little love for shiitake.

Ellijay-grown. Mushroom-forward. Always worth a second bite.

There’s just something about a beautiful shiitake mushroom. Rich, savory, meaty, and full of flavor — they’re one of those ingredients that can make a simple meal feel a little more special.
And the best part? You really don’t have to do much with them.
A little olive oil, salt, and pepper in a hot pan is enough to let their natural umami shine. But they’re just as happy tucked into pasta, layered onto pizza, folded into risotto, tossed into ramen, or grilled until golden and delicious.
A few shiitake facts we love:
🍄 They’re naturally rich in umami
🌱 Traditionally grown on hardwood
🍳 They have a wonderfully firm, meaty texture
💚 They’re a source of B vitamins 
🔥 They’re incredibly versatile in the kitchen

We grow them because we love mushrooms and because we love sharing something genuinely good with the people who bring them home.

HOWARD, THE MUSHROOM MAN 🍄
If you’ve spent any time around Ellijay Mushrooms, you’ve probably met Howard, co-owner, mushroom grower, outdoorsman, and the guy who can probably tell you what’s growing before you even see it.
Ask him what to serve someone who insists they don’t like mushrooms, and he’ll tell you shiitake. Not your mama’s slimy mushrooms, he’ll remind you. Just a little olive oil, salt and pepper, a hot pan, and you might change your mind.
His love for mushrooms started turning into something more when he dropped off samples with Ben Krawiecki, Director of Culinary Purchasing at Marlow’s Tavern. A couple of weeks passed, Howard checked on the samples Chef Ben said he’d forgotten about the mushrooms, but when he finally cooked them, they were still fresh and delicious, just as good as the day Howard dropped them off.
That was the moment Howard knew they had something special. Something worth sharing.
These days, when he’s not at the farm (which, according to Howard, isn’t often), you’ll find him kayaking or hiking through the mountains. And one of his favorite things about Ellijay? Finding wild mushrooms before Bigfoot does.
But more than anything, Howard hopes people leave the farm feeling happy, connected to the community, inspired to try something new, and already thinking about when they can come back.
Maybe that’s the magic of mushrooms.
Maybe it’s the mountains.
Or maybe it’s just Howard. 🍄🌿
