We got a freshly made restock of pasta from Fasta & Ravioli Co today. Four types of Ravioli — three cheese, asparagus gruyere, portabella mushroom & beet with goat cheese. We also stocked short pasta, like this Short Pasta Trio. Bob, the pasta maker, was so excited to bring this trio, because all of the shapes soak up all the pasta sauce in all of the nooks and crannies!

Bob’s recipe suggestion was to cook the pasta in salted water (& blanch the asparagus in the same water!), then put chèvre in a bowl & add a little pasta water to loosen the cheese & create a pasta sauce. We thought adding a little garlic scape powder to season the sauce would be another seasonal touch! Toss the pasta in the sauce with the asparagus & you’ll have an easy, delicious, local meal 🍽️✨🌿

Our gratitude is overflowing!!!

Party people, what a beautiful beginning to the future of People's Provisions in our newly renovated & expanded storefront. THANK YOU so much for stopping in & supporting us, sharing in our excitement. YOU are the reason for this upgrade, and you really showed up for us! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! We were thrilled to hear all week that now everyone can see everything that we have to offer! More space means more products, yes, but it also means a more enjoyable, accessible & less rushed shopping experience. We hope you found some new foods that you've enjoyed! We'd love to know what we can bring into the shop next too! We have a few new items coming soon & we can't wait to share them with you. As always, our farmers are at the heart of this business & we are so grateful to be able to better serve them & support their work through this new store. Thank you for eating locally this summer -- the best is yet to come!

Unfortunately, the strawberry season has come to an end. Our organic strawberry farmer is done for the season, so we will not have any strawberries for sale this week. We picked up a few flats of no spray strawberries yesterday through the Three Sisters Food Hub Network, but they won't last for the store. Instead, I will be tasting them today with Pre-Schoolers & their families at the Ready for School Farm to Table event, and then use them in our boxed lunch catering & prepared foods this week. There is a conventional grower who has strawberries near by, but they are sprayed daily. I am trying to figure out what they spray with, so that I can make the decision to buy hem for you all or not. Sourcing food that is good for the earth & good for our people is my highest priority. Strawberry season always goes so quickly, but it's so so sweet. We did just pick up a batch of Strawberry Jam from our canner, made with our sorted seconds organic strawberries from this season, so we will have the taste of strawberry season all year long! The strawberry jam will be available in store starting this week Also, it is most likely the final week for asparagus, so please stock up & get one final taste of spring! That means summer tomatoes are coming soon!

Also this week, The Wholesome Loaf & The Bread Shed are both on vacation, so we have a guest baker The Sourdough Sanctuary this week! Chef Nikki is a cottage baker from Harrisburg & she sets up weekly at the West Perry Farmers Market right here in Elliottsburg. She will be baking & delivering to us on Wednesday morning around 11am. She will be bringing fresh sourdough loaves, bagels & English muffins. We also have frozen breads from our weekly bakers in the freezer.

I am thrilled to also officially announce our events this summer!

Saturday June 20th will be our Ribbon Cutting Celebration with the Perry County Chamber of Commerce to celebrate the grand re-opening of our storefront. The Coffee Coop will be set up from 9a-12p with coffee & drinks for celebrating. Ribbon Cutting at 9am, Party from 9-12 & store will be open 9-4.

Tickets are now available for our Summer Supper Club Series with Hecker's Handhelds. We have THREE dates for Summer 2026, the first one being Friday June 26th from 6-8pm. Hecker's Handhelds will be set up at the shop with an all-local, all-you-can-eat Garden Party style Buffet Dinner including appetizers, drinks & desserts. We will be featuring live music from Zach King & Tony Fitting & our friends Blue Mountain Provisions will be on site with wine slushies & glasses for purchase. This event is also BYOB! Guests who buy tickets to all 3 Summer Supper Clubs will receive a FREE 2026 Supper Club T-shirt! All Supper Club tickets are now available on our website! https://www.peoplesprovisions.com/events

Thank you to our community!
We have had the opportunity to partner with multiple organizations working with children this past week, where I have been able to speak with the kids, share more about People's Provisions & talk about our farmers. Thank you to Newport Champions for hosting a seed planting activity. Thank you to the Snyder Church in New Bloomfield for having me present about the West Perry Backpack program this week at Vacation Bible School & for fundraising all week to give back to our local students! Today we look forward to the Ready for School Farm to Table Event & tomorrow we are catering for the UPMC Community Baby Shower. It is an honor to work with so many community organizations! Thank you for having us as a part of our community!

We will be closed on Saturday the 4th of July!

Our hearts are so so full this week ✨🍓

Thank you so much to everyone for coming to visit! We just picked up more strawberries this afternoon, so we are stocked for the weekend. We hope you’ll swing by, see the new shop & pick up some beautiful heart-filled organically grown produce. We’ve got so much in store, with so much space to be together.

Thank you to everyone for their best wishes, celebratory congratulations, hugs, laughter & love. It’s been so fun seeing your reactions when you walk through the new door! & for everyone wondering, yes we are still renting the old store, but we are using it for storage and an office at the moment. Our dreams are to turn it into a community kitchen, but we are focused on the new storefront at the moment & we hope your support continues to keep this dream moving in the right direction! Thank you so much for all of the support your showered us with this far, it’s an honor to do this work together, in our beautiful Perry County! We love you party people!! ❤️🥰

Everyone is welcome here!

Party people! We did it! We moved the shop into our newly renovated storefront the past 5 days! With the help of incredible movers, our construction team & of course our staff, we are ready to welcome you back to People's Provisions for our soft opening week!

I am calling this a soft opening, because its not 100% finished (we still need to hang art on the walls, receive a few more inventory deliveries & finish the back room) & in true People's Provisions fashion, the new store will be changing daily this month as we settle in with this season of our business!

Our new storefront is where 1892 unrefined used to be. When Cloie made the decision to close 1892 to open an alternative school with her husband, we had just found out that we received a Business Builder Award from the NASDA Foundation to expand our cold storage capacity. Growing in this new space was a no brainer & the team at HAAS Creative Carpentry brought my vision to life. Natural light, warm wood, bright white walls & small details to keep the character in our train station building. I think my favorite part of the whole build is our new counter & cabinetry, made with the hemlock studs from inside the walls that were torn down during demo (keep reading to see a photo!). I have no idea how old the wood is, or which small business in our little train station put them in, but it's an honor to keep some of that magic alive.

When you come to the shop this week, we simply ask for you to plan to stay a while. The new space has enough room to browse at a slower pace, where you aren't bumping into one another with your baskets. Since everything has been moved, you will need to reorient yourself with where everything is located (which will probably change a few more times). We will also be working out the kinks & finding out new flow, so we thank you in advance for your patience. & we hope every single one of you comes to see us, so the shop will be full of lots of our people!! Please come & plan to be here with us, soaking it all in.

We have strawberries again this week, organic & no spray! Asparagus is still in season & we have the second week of broccoli, lots of bunched beets, greens, herbs & so much more. Next week both of our bakers will be on vacation, so this week please come stock up on your sourdough loaves, bagels & baked goods. We had a chicken restock last week, but we are almost out of beef. With the new space, we were able to purchase our 1st whole animal because we now have a deep freezer in the storage room big enough to fit a whole beef, so beef will be coming soon! The area we are most excited about growing is the grab & go coolers, and now that they are larger in cold storage space, we have a few new products coming into the shop! Our latest is Rijuice, cold-pressed juices from Lancaster, made with local apples, greens & seasonal produce. We also picked up a freshly made batch of ready to eat meals from Healthy You Cafe yesterday, so we have lots of options for you this week!

Thank you everyone for your support. This expansion is phase 1 of our growth project in growing People's Provisions into a larger community centered food-hub. I'm really proud of our humble beginnings, a 3x4 table in the garden behind Farmers Daughters Cafe, to now, in our new & truly designed storefront. I am beyond grateful for everyone's support. Thank you for consistently showing up for us & our farmers. We are so excited to continue this journey, feeding Perry County & making our small corner of the world a more joyful, inspiring place for all.
