Our incubator is humming away and we’re counting down the days—baby chicks are almost ready to hatch!

I'm back from the beach and back to the farm life I love!

The beach was beautiful — there’s nothing like the sound of the waves, warm sand underfoot, and that salty breeze. It’s always refreshing to get away for a bit and soak it all in, in a different way.
But as wonderful as the beach is, there’s no place like home — and nothing beats the feeling of being back on the farm.

Tonight we picked our first lettuce and spinach of the season, fresh from the garden! There's something about growing your own food that gives me such a great sense of accomplishment. Plus, when you eat straight from the garden, you know you're getting the absolute best nutrients without all the extra junk. Eating healthy doesn’t have to be complicated — sometimes it’s as simple as a handful of fresh greens you grew yourself.

Ever Wonder What's Going On Inside a Chicken Egg? Let’s Talk About Candling!

One of the coolest parts of hatching our own chicks is candling—a simple but fascinating way to check what's happening inside those little eggs.

Candling is done by shining a bright light through the egg in a dark room. It lets us see the development of the embryo and helps us know which eggs are fertile, growing properly, or if it’s time to remove a non-developing one (which can prevent bad odors or bacteria from spreading in the incubator!).

We usually candle at day 7 and again around day 14. By day 7, you can often see tiny veins and even a little movement if the embryo is growing! By day 14, the chick is much bigger, and you'll notice the air sac and more shadows as the chick takes up more space.

It’s an amazing process and always a bit magical—watching life form right inside an eggshell!

While our farm shop isn’t accessible at the moment, we still want to make it easy for you to grab your favorite handcrafted goods. I will keep you posted when I have a date and know more details.

Four years ago, many of you shared a very special Christmas moment—when Parker got the “puppy with a fluffy chest” he had wished so hard for. It’s hard to believe how quickly time flies, but today, that sweet little boy turned 12 years old!

We kicked off Parker’s birthday with a bike ride around the farm (his gift this year was a new bike he picked out himself!), while soaking in the gorgeous weather. What you can't see is under my jacket I had on my Knott Farms "Dirt Road Raised' t-shirt. Totally unplanned but very heartwarming because this is the exact dirtroad I rode my bike and horses on as a kid.

Later, we rounded up a great group of boys and headed to The Edge, where they had an absolute blast!

Farm life has given us so many cherished moments throughout the generations. Thank you for being part of it and watching our kiddos grow right alongside the crops and critters.

Happy Birthday, Parker! You’re so loved and growing up way too fast!!
