“The importance for me is that it’s the unique flavors of Downeast Maine, not only hyper-regional but also hyper-seasonal,” Stein explained. “Especially in a world where so many things are mass produced or produced very far away from where they’re being consumed — to have something that is a closed loop system within 10-miles radius, it just feels very special and important, and I try to do my best to communicate that and get people to be excited about tasting something that came from so close.” Fogtown Owner, Jon Stein

What does it mean to be a local business?

At Fogtown, we really get a kick out of using Maine ingredients, and working with other local businesses and farmers. The Foglight Maine Pilsner really epitomizes this:

The grain in this b**r is 100% Maine grown & malted by our friends Maine Malt House and Blue Ox Malthouse
Brewed in Maine-made stainless tanks, at our humble Ellsworth taproom.

Spent grains go to local farms and compost facilities like Peggy Rockefeller Farm who uses it as feed for their chickens and lambs, and Chickadee Compost who turns it into compost!

Thanks for supporting us so we can keep doing what we love and supporting our community!

Now that Jon Stein ‘s young peach trees are finally starting to ripen, we’re so excited to share this pizza special with you!

Maine-grown arugula, ricotta, pancetta & burrata. Finished with fresh rosemary from the B**r Garden and an enchanting house reduction of choke-berries from our Aronia bushes.

Available until all the peaches are gone.
