‼️Caution: Long winded beekeeper ‼️

Our Bee Tree Hive from Lavender & Fir Roadside Market decided to swarm today!

Half the colony stayed with the supersedure cell and the other half went up two trees!

The first tree the bees were only about 25-30 feet up. The second tree the bees were close to 60 feet up!

Thankfully when we got the swarm out of the first tree the second decided to follow and rejoined the colony.

After transferring the bees into a bucket we slowly walked them into a new home. We took our time to find the queen and ensured she was still healthy and active! No problems there! She even slipped out of the queen cage! Eventually she landed again (took three landings!!😳) and we were able to get her into her new home!

Thank you Melissa for all the help!! I likely wouldn’t have been able to do the recovery without her!

One of the colonies swarmed yesterday and was slowed down by tanging (the process of banging metal together). The colony is about 45’ up an Alder tree. Bottom of the tree I have a swarm trap all ready for when they want to move again.

Likely they are off to new pastures but fingers crossed they want to stay! I checked the hive body where they came from and it was barely a dent in the population.

Had one our colonies swarm, much too high for getting them.

Even the busiest bees take a moment to enjoy the sunshine 🌼🐝

Three walk away splits on the other end in white single Deep boxes. (The white two-box stack on the very end is an empty hive body being used for the next split) All three are successful and rearing their own brood!

After a significant loss over the winter, having successful splits from package bees is pretty awesome.

This morning we had a swarm fly over our Apiary! Came from the neighbor I think, and just kept on going!

🐝🌼 Happy World Bee Day from A&M Bees, LLC! 🌼🐝

Today we celebrate the tiny pollinators that keep our gardens blooming, our berries growing, and our tables full. From blackberry blossoms to lavender fields, bees work tirelessly every single day — and we’re grateful for every hive, every forager, and every drop of honey they help create.

Here in the Pacific Northwest, we’re proud to support healthy pollinators, local forage, and raw local honey straight from the source. Whether you plant flowers, avoid harmful sprays, support local beekeepers, or simply take a moment to appreciate a bee buzzing by… you’re helping more than you know.

🍯 Thank you for supporting local bees and local honey!
🌸 Plant flowers. Protect pollinators. Support nature.

Here are our hives a day after a storm came through. The girls are working our blackberries pretty hard right now! In our area some of the beekeepers are having a dearth, not here in the hills!

We have a microclimate that supports foraging much earlier and later than down in the valley. Partially due to mass planting on my part and partially due to our artesian springs on my hillside feeding our plants year round!

Sometimes I get questions about honey crystallizing. Here is a short infographic on the basics of why it does. Basically it’s raw unfiltered honey. Not micro filtered honey that is most common in many grocery stores.

If you are interested in more feel free to drop a comment and I am happy to explain more in depth.
