I HATE these blue bags.
They sit by the stairs, stuffed with clothes, shoes, blankets, and pieces of the lives that once filled every corner of this house. To anyone else, they’re just bags. But to me, they mean someone is leaving 🥹 They mean bedrooms will stay clean a little longer. There will be fewer shoes by the door, fewer voices calling “Mom,” fewer late-night sounds coming from down the hall.
For years, I dreamed of the day they would grow up, find their way, chase their dreams, and build lives of their own. And now they are. Funny how you can be so incredibly proud and so incredibly sad at the exact same time. Because this is what we raised them for. We spend years teaching them how to walk, how to be brave, how to make good choices, how to leave the safety of home and stand on their own. No one tells you that when they finally do, you’ll want just one more ordinary day.
Tonight will be one more messy kitchen. One more “What’s for dinner?” One more night knowing everyone you love is sleeping under the same roof. Soon, the blue bags will be gone. The house will be quieter. Their rooms will be emptier. And a new chapter will begin for all of us especially Louis and I .
So yes, I hate these blue bags. But I love what they mean. They mean we did our job. They mean our children are ready for the world.
I’m just not sure my heart was ready for the blue bags 🥹😞
