Kurt and Corinna Bench started their 20 acre certified organic vegetable farm in 2008 with 12 CSA customers. Today they serve nearly 400 households with their vegetable subscription boxes. You can also find their produce featured at high-end local restaurants and two farmer's markets. On our farm, we don't just grow you great-tasting veggies, but we teach you how to eat them.

🌱 REMINDER: Spring Plant Sale Pickup #1 is this Saturday! 🌱 + Extra asparagus for sale to public!

This Saturday, May 16, from 10 AM–12 PM is our first Spring Plant Sale pickup day at the farm. NOTE: This is for PRE-ORDERS ONLY! There will be no extra plants availabe for the public yet. (That's next weekend!)

A couple quick notes to our Plant Sale customers to help things go smoothly:

👉 We are expecting a LOT of traffic during this two-hour window.
Between plant sale pickups and Spring Salad Share pickups, there will be a steady stream of cars, so please come expecting possible wait times and long lines. I will have a crew of volunteers to help us make things go as quickly as possible.

👉 Your Plant Sale pre-order will be packed up in a box, ready to go. Just drive down the driveway, tell us your LAST NAME, and our crew will grab your box off the trailer and load it into your vehicle.

👉 We’ll also have EXTRA ASPARAGUS for sale!

One of the BEST investments we’ve made on the farm… 👇
This machine is our soil flat filler.
Its entire job is to quickly fill greenhouse planting trays with soil before we seed them.

Here’s how it works:
We dump potting soil into the hopper on top, gravity feeds it downward, and the flats move through the machine underneath — coming out the other side perfectly filled and ready to plant.

Simple idea. HUGE time savings. 🌱

Before this, filling flats was much slower, more repetitive, and honestly just harder on the body.

Now?
✔️ faster workflow
✔️ lighter physical labor
✔️ better consistency
✔️ happier crew morale

When you’re planting thousands and thousands of seedlings every season, tools like this make an enormous difference.

The crew transplanted the first field crops yesterday! Three beds of onions. See the process here. Notice how slow the tractor creeps along! These onions are being planted about 3 weeks late - due to rain and cold spring temps. They will go into our CSA patron members’ farm boxes this summer.

If you’ve been struggling with digestion… this might be something to look into.

A couple years ago, I came across the word 'Lectins' — and it ended up being a turning point for me.

So what is a lectin?

In simple terms, lectins are a type of plant protein found in certain foods (like beans, grains, dairy, tomatoes, peppers, and some vegetables) that can be hard for some people to digest -- especially folks with a "leaky gut." They can trigger inflammation or digestive discomfort.

Once I started removing high-lectin foods from my diet, it took about 6–8 weeks… but I began to notice less discomfort, faster digestion, and decreased reflux.

It was the piece that finally helped things start moving in the right direction. Yes, it was a bummer to remove some of my favorite foods -- but it's been worth it. I am now fully healed.

This isn’t a “one-size-fits-all” answer. But if you’ve tried a lot of things and still feel stuck in digestion distress, it might be something worth exploring.

Great question — and the answer depends on the season...
👉 For the month of May: All pickups are happening at our farm in Elmore
🗓 Saturdays only
⏰ 10 AM – 12 PM
Everything is pre-order only (we’re not set up as a walk-up farm stand).

👉 Once our main season begins in mid-June:
We expand to our regular weekly pickup schedule with 3 locations:
📍 Sylvania, Five Lakes Church (old campus) – Tuesdays, 5:30–6:30 PM
📍 Elmore (the farm) – Tuesdays, 5:30–6:30 PM
📍 Perrysburg (Grace Church, 601 E Boundary) – Thursdays, 5:00–6:30 PM
You’ll still order online ahead of time — but now you’ll have more pickup options around the Toledo area.

So for now: Saturdays at the farm

I have a favorite green… and it’s arugula.

If you’ve been following my gut-healing journey, you know I’ve gotten really intentional about what I eat — and arugula has become a staple for me.

It’s one of the most gut-friendly greens out there.
Low in things like oxalates (an anti-nutrient that can be hard on some people’s digestion) and just really easy for my body to process.

So much so that I’ve basically asked Kurt to grow me a lot more of it this year so I can eat it every day. 😄

If you’ve never tried it, arugula has a slightly peppery, fresh flavor — and it’s best when the leaves are still small and tender.

Here are a few of my favorite ways to use it:

🥗 Toss it into a simple salad with olive oil, lemon, and shaved parmesan or goat cheese
🍳 Add a handful to scrambled eggs or an omelet right at the end
🥪 Pile it onto sandwiches or wraps for a fresh, peppery kick

Right now (in May), our schedule is a little… wonky. 😅

We’re not a walk-in farm stand with open hours during the week. And we don't go to the Farmers Market anymore either. (!!)
We’re a working farm, so everything we sell is pre-ordered first, then picked up during set windows later in the week.

Here are your options for buying from us for most the year: 👇

🌱 Option #1: Join the CSA (starts mid-June)
This is our signature program—a weekly box of organic veggies + optional add-ons like fruit, pastured chicken/pork, artisan cheese, flowers, coffee & more.
You prepay, we harvest for you, and bring it to your pickup site each week. You can join this program and become a "patron" of the farm, starting at around $35/week. Go to this link to sign up:

🥕 Option #2: Shop the Online Store (a la carte)
Want flexibility? This is where you should start.
✔️ Get on our email list. We email every Saturday.
