So when I’m not busy with my pigs and goats, I collect and breed chickens 😆 as a little hobby. They are addicting actually.

My last hatch was Silkies and my new breed Serama! If you don’t know Silkies are a bantam breed (small). Well Serama are the tiniest! These two chicks hatched the same day!! I can’t wait to see my little Serama full size and get a couple more🫣.

As we get closer to fair, I wanted to share some info on how to clip your pigs! Body clipping is a thing of the past, we love them hairy now.

This photo is a great guide for where to clip, what length, and where not to clip! And don’t forget to always start with a clean pig. Jimmy Juice, Pink Ice, and Bright Lights whitening shampoo are all great products to be using as we get close to fair week.

Goat families I wanted to share some information!

I know most of you have a while before fair I wanted to share some helpful tips on getting your goat ready for fair! Clipping your goat for fair takes some practice so as it gets warmer, it might be useful to practice your clipping skills.

Also don’t forget to keep their hoofs trimmed! This is very important to keep them sound and walking correctly.

Picture is from Valley vet. Most of you have market goats so be sure to follow top diagram.

Hopefully all is going well with everyone’s 2026 goat and pig projects! We love to get updates through out the show season and help with any questions! Videos are always the best way for breeders and feed representatives to get a good idea of how your project is going!

In a good video it’s important to show both sides of the animal as it’s walking and a view walking towards and away from camera. Pretend the camera is the judge, never block the view of the animal☺️ here’s a rough example, please excuse the dirty pig, and he is being treated for straw mites. Fun fact, super common in pigs and goats, so watch for them!

As a hobby I like to hatch out chicks! These are all from my flock!

A year ago I was gifted Ayam Cemani hatching eggs, and these are the first set of chicks I’ve hatched from them! There are also some pretty awesome blue/gray silkies from my flock!
