Ridgeview Farm We raise black Angus grass-fed and grass-finished beef. No antibiotics or growth hormones.

Here are the facts about our beef that make it so unique and healthy for you and the environment.

*The cattle are 100 grass-fed, no grain and no antibiotics.

* The cattle are supplemented with our baled hay in the winter plus winter grazing depending on the weather.

*Ours is a closed herd since 1970.

*We don’t buy feeders as our cow’s calves are raised to finished beef without any vaccinations

as is done in crowded feedlots.

*Our cattle are an Angus/Jersey cross.

*The Jersey cows from a dairy herd were bred to Angus.

*The Jersey Angus cross is known for its flavor.

* Our beef graze on a salad bar of clover, alfalfa, birdsfoot trefoil, bromegrass, wildflowers, and leafy weeds like dandelions. (A Spring favorite).

* The cattle have free choice access to grazing minerals and a salt block to lick.

* For extra energy, in extremely cold weather, the cattle get molasses lick tubs.

* Our beef is processed at Winthrop Locker under state inspection for retail sale.

* Beef packages are vacuum packed and frozen.

Ridgeview farm just north of Ely has been in Ray's family since 1864.

The pastures of Ray's farm are 1 FOOT HIGHER than the tilled grain fields around them.

That's clear evidence of how grass-fed meat farming is GOOD for the environment.
Did you know: pasture acts as a carbon sink, sucking Co2 out of the air,

while the cattle's manure and lack of tilling BUILD SOIL.
