I grew Job’s Tears (Coix lacryma-jobi) for the first time this year. 🌾 Job’s Tears is a grass that produces these incredibly hard, naturally shiny seeds that come in all kinds of colors & patterns. They’ve been used for centuries to make jewelry & other decorative objects.

I started these from seed in the spring, transplanted them into the field, harvested them, dried them & am now making bracelets (luckily I remembered to photograph every step to show you)! They are absolutely gorgeous & no two beads are exactly alike. The black, gray, white & brown colors are all natural.

I made this one tonight for myself but will have some at market this weekend. If you want one & wont be at the farmers market hmu! I can make one for you.

I think I eat a pepper every day. 🫑 Our plants are still producing a literal f**k ton of peppers (that’s an actual measurement in farming) so if you want to buy some slide into my DMs. I got bells, Carmen’s, Big Daddy sweets, Jalapeños, Shish*tos, Serranos & some super hots!

Dragonfruit propagations for sale! 🌵 I have a very limited amount (only 25 - will be chosen randomly from stock, these are just two examples) propagations this year because I was really slacking. But they are on the website, available for purchase (pick-up only, Emmaus, Bethlehem or Perkasie).

Variety unknown so I don’t know if it’s self-fertile. The mother plant has not fruited but I’ve only had it for two seasons & haven’t kept it in the greenhouse year-round. I recomend growing as a houseplant in PA, in a bright spot with well-draining soil & protect it from frost! Because these are clones of the mother plant they will grow to flowering size QUICKLY (one to three years in good conditions).

BABY’S FIRST COVER CROP 🌱

I’ve been spending a lot of time trying to learn as much as I can about soil heath & what I can do as someone stewarding a piece of land. So, this season I’m broadcast seeding cover crop on beds as I clear them for the winter. Because I’m a bit behind schedule but also because I’m growing on such a small space & need it, I’m growing Winter Rye which was the best option for late planting here.

Against medical advice ya girl was out in the field this morning harvesting lettuce & peppers. But I learned my lesson when I PUT THE HARVEST BIN DOWN ON MY FOOT. 😳😫🫠 You know when something hurts so bad it takes a second for your brain to register & react? It was like that.

But look at how gorgeous these peppers are. I harvested enough Carmen & Big Daddy peppers for the CSA. I think I’ll make a little pep medley for everyone. I also harvest all the Parris Island Romaine because it was struggling under the row cover but I don’t have a deer fence up on that section of the field. 😬 Bugs got to most of my brassicas AGAIN but all of that aside, I have the best friends ever who give up their Saturday to come to the farm while I’m at market & harvest winter squash & sweet potatoes. Thank you Katelynn Frey & Josh K for being the best ever!

Aunt Donna & Taryn collab! 🐦‍⬛🏡 I grew these birdhouse gourds (from seeds 𝕁𝕖𝕤𝕤 𝔹𝕦𝕔𝕙 shared) last year. I dried them & then gave them to my Aunt Donna who hand painted them. Each has a hole drilled in it & can be hung. They are available at the Perkasie Farmers' Market today & will be on the website later this weekend. I am over the moon excited about this project.
