Local, Craft-Brewed Kombucha, Pottery, Printing, Yoga Since 2017, the family has retooled and reinvented with one purpose in mind: to reconnect.

In 1987, the DeVaults started Pheasant Hill Farm by siphoning water with a garden hose from 55 gallon drums in the back of an old pickup to water-in sugar snap peas in roughly-tilled ground. They sold produce at their local farmers’ markets, began a CSA and served as the resident farmers and educators in the community. Regardless of what they grow or raise, small farms and small farmers live or di

e by the strength of the community they cultivate. At Portch Tea, we remain small farmers and this remains our mandate. We have grown our business organically, by creating and meeting demand. By innovating and constantly striving to exceed expectations. It takes a long time and a lot of work to get from seeds sewn in early spring to a fall harvest and hand-processing before we can even begin to make a product. Our purpose-built production space is now also a licensed Limited Winery, which adds an extra dimension to what we offer to our community in the very same space that we grow and brew and live. Our community support has led to more farm events, including yoga, live music, and “The Country Mile” sunflower and wildflower trail.

We’re excited to share that ownership of Portch tea has transitioned to the Funderburk Family earlier this month.

While the faces behind “Farmers Booch” may be changing the commitment and passion to brewing the highest quality best tasting BOOCH around has not….Same recipes, same processes, same tasty Kombucha!

As Don embarks on his next adventure he will continue to serve as an advisor to the business & brew operations over the next few years. We are incredibly grateful and appreciative for the trust he has placed in us as we build upon all of his hard work and creativity that’s core to Portch Tea Kombucha.

For those that may not know us, we’ve grown up in the LOCAL Grower & Producer community. Our parents owned a produce farm in Berks County (Beets Workin' Farm) and founded Trexlertown Farmers Market more than a decade ago. Now our family proudly works with more than 100+ LOCAL Growers & Producers at our two market locations: Local Leaf Market OLEY and Local Leaf Market - Trexlertown where you’ll find Portch Tea Kombucha ON TAP daily!

Hannah (2nd from left) has been onsite and brewing with Don since summer and has taken over as Brewer a few months ago. If you’ve been enjoying Portch Tea Booch since Labor Day it was brewed by Hannah! Core favorites like Naked Hippie, Berries, Bluegrass, Strawberry Sage, Turmeric Ginger, Rosemary Mint and more are working there way back into the lineup each week and we’re excited to share them with you again.

We will continue to brew onsite at Pheasant Hill Farm in Vera Cruz BUT this location is now for production only and will no longer have store hours. Please visit our website for locations where you can find Portch Tea ON TAP and stay tuned for new locations in the weeks ahead.
