"What's the difference between all the options on a custom pork order?" We've been getting a lot of questions from folks ordering a half or whole pig about what all those choices actually mean, especially after yesterdays post that said we only have 3 pigs left!

The good news? There aren't really any wrong answers. The "best" option depends on how your family cooks and what you like to eat. Here are some of the big decisions you'll make:
🥓 Bacon Thickness
Thin cut: Crisps up quickly and cooks faster.
Thick cut: Meatier slices and great for breakfast sandwiches or the smoker.
🍖 Pork Chops
Thin chops: Quick weeknight meals.
Thick chops: Better if you like juicy chops on the grill.
🌭 Sausage
Breakfast sausage: Perfect for biscuits and gravy, breakfast burritos, and patties.
Italian sausage: Great for pasta, pizza, and casseroles.
Ground pork: More versatile if you like to season it yourself.
Links: It's a preference thing!
🥩 Roasts
Leave larger roasts if you enjoy feeding a crowd or cooking Sunday dinners.
Ask for smaller roasts if you're cooking for a smaller family.
🍖 Ribs
Most people keep them because... well... ribs.
But they can also be trimmed differently depending on your preference.
🐷 Ham
Smoked ham is the traditional favorite.
You can choose how it's cut and packaged to fit your family's needs, or ask for a plain ham roast if you don't like it cured!

The biggest piece of advice: Think about what you actually cook throughout the year. If your family loves breakfast, put more into breakfast sausage. If you grill all summer, consider thicker chops and keep the ribs. When you buy a custom half or whole hog, you're not just buying pork. You're stocking your freezer with meals your family will enjoy all year long.

We have 3 corn/soy free pigs left! Butcher date is coming fast, and these guys are getting big! Definitely eating us out of house and home! They definitely eat more per pound of gain on this diet! We are excited to see how different the meat tastes! Claim your half or whole with a $100 deposit per half!

Here’s a breakdown of the estimated costs:

We shoot for an average of 180lbs hanging weight per pig, you will typically see +/- 30 pounds of that weight. Take home weight is typically 68% of hanging weight, so the take home weight for a pig that weighs 180lbs hanging would be about 122lbs. 122lbs at $7.50/lb gives you $918 out the door, Butcher costs included.
