I was worried that today would be miserably hot and humid, but it’s actually gorgeous ☀️

Perfect temps, light breeze, the bugs were leaving me alone (thank goodness)… the rest of my day might not be going the way I want, but at least planting in the garden was lovely.

I wish I could have stayed out longer, but alas, it was lunch time and now it’s nap time.

I’ve got deliveries scheduled for a nice soil mix tomorrow, thanks again Siegel Sand & Gravel 🪏 and I’m working on figuring out the mulch.

I also need 13 more tomato cages. If anyone has the hook up on some decent ones for cheap, I’ll gladly trade eggs for delivery 😉

Good morning 🪏

I’m trying to get the rest of the soil and mulch I need to finish the two gardens… sometimes being out in the country has its disadvantages. There’s only a few places close enough that the delivery charge isn’t excessive and they don’t always have what I’m looking for.

Anyway I’ve got to get this day going. We’ve had our fried egg bagels, the chickens are running around, and the sun is shining 🤎

Who wants fresh hand picked lettuce tomorrow?! I’ll pick, wash, and bag first thing in the morning and you can get yours in the mini fridge at the farm stand. It’ll be a yummy salad mix.

It would also go great with burgers, sandwiches, egg salad…🥚 🥗 I even have the eggs!

My mom gets laryngitis from her allergies 🤧 So we’re trying out a throat spray to see if it will ease her symptoms and maybe she won’t lose her voice when it’s bothering her.

I made a tincture with heal-all/self heal that I foraged and dried. The spray is made with the tincture, local raw honey, water, and peppermint extract 💜

I can’t sell the spray or tincture unfortunately, but I’ll let you know if it works. I can harvest and sell dried heal-all and you can make some yourself!

Bagels and buns and now it’s time to make dinner! 🍽️

Since I have somewhere around 20 dozen eggs, I’m making chicken fried rice loaded with scrambled eggs for dinner. We were going to have burgers, but Hubby is exhausted from work, gardening, and fishing all day so we’ll have them tomorrow instead. He’s the grill master, not me!

Hamburger buns are on their final rise, bagels are going in the oven now 🥯

It’s almost nap time for Sweet Pea, but I think I’ll have them all finished in time.

Once these go in I have to go collect eggs from the girls. I let them out of the run today and I hope they stay up by the house and stay safe. I shot off some bottle rockets earlier just incase anything was lurking about. 🦊 🦅

Good morning farm friends! ☀️

Another beautiful sunny day in store for us today. Hubby got the big kids up early to go fishing 🎣 so it’s just Sweet Pea and I holding down the homestead.

So far we’ve done some laundry, vacuumed all the floors, let the chickens out, and had breakfast 🧁☕️

We’ll be potting up the 🪴 luffa which will be planted out in about a week and catching up on some inside tasks. I’m going to make bagels 🥯 for the week and hamburger buns for tonight’s dinner 🍔

If everyone gets back home in enough time I’ll probably get some more tomatoes planted. It’s difficult to wrangle the toddler and plant by myself.
