SMS Annalark GCH was the reason I didn't completely get out of horses after Pond View Lady Hawk because I had stopped riding and showing and didn't know if I wanted to again. She has been with me through high school, college, having James, my dad dying and now my divorce.
I met this horse in 2001 and bought her in 2003 with that being her first year showing at Spring PNW and then OMC and CFAIR. I didn't show her at PNW and then went to win classes, including championships on her at OMC and then again at CFair.
James won his first championship on her, as well as Jim and Peyton winning their first Morgan classes on her. Not many people can say they had their 14 year old son make the same victory pass they did at 14 on the same horse in the same arena. And I still love the fact she filled in for the fair last fall and won the FFA Performance Horse High Point with Peyton. Annie was also shown and filled in at WAHSET this spring.
I am not unrealistic about how old she is, but she still runs around, greets me with her yelling every morning and wants belly scratches. She still loves peppermints even though she has to crush them with her back teeth. She is still happy and mostly healthy and I will love this horse until the day I die, even if a part of my soul leaves with her when she does.
