Bacon Farms

Bacon Farms Local Farm in Hillsborough NC producing Beef, Garden Mums, Flowers, and vegetables. Since 1825 Bacon Farms is a family owned farm established in 1825.

Throughout the generations the the farm has raised Angus beef cows, Hereford cows, Semintal cows, Guernsey cows for milk and butter and chickens for eggs. It has grown to***co, sweet potatoes, sweet corn, strawberries and chrysanthemums. In 2013, 70 acres of the original farmland was inherited by Ben and Laura Johnson. It is their goal to continue the family farming heritage and keep the land as a

working farm. Ben and partner Shaun Savage are working to resume farming activities on the land. For 2013 they are cultivating a large garden with a variety of heirloom produce as well as 30 varieties of chrysanthemums and 4 varieties of pumpkins. They will continue to diversify the farm in the coming years. The owners are dedicated to using sustainable farming practices, avoiding the use of pesticides and herbicides and contributing to the community as it has done for more than 175 years.
