🌱 Farm Stand Update!

It’s been a few days (okay… maybe a couple weeks) since I’ve given an update. I haven’t been keeping the stand as stocked lately, and there are a couple reasons for that. The heat has been hard on the garden and the picker! We’re also in that awkward in-between season where the summer crops are winding down and the fall crops aren’t quite ready yet.

Then yesterday, we had one heck of a storm! The garden took a pretty good thrashing, and I lost quite a few tomatoes, but thankfully there were still a few that could be salvaged. Overall, I was actually really impressed with how well the garden held up! At one point I was looking out the front window watching saplings bent completely over with the tops touching the ground.

My pepper plants definitely need some staking after all that, but they rewarded me with a pretty good harvest this morning!

Down at the Farm Stand:
🍅 Just a few tomatoes
🍆 LOTS of eggplant
🌶️ Jalapeño peppers
🌶️ Italian peppers
🫑 Bell peppers
🌶️ Banana peppers

I put all the eggplant down there this morning. If it isn’t gone by this evening, I’ll be pulling it to make eggplant casserole. If you have eggplant sitting in your kitchen and have no idea what to do with it, let me know—I’d be happy to share my recipe!

🌻 A little flower update: This one makes me sad. The heat has really taken a toll on the cut flowers, and yesterday’s windstorm probably finished off a lot of what was left. I still have a few hanging on, so if I can get enough for some bouquets, I’ll put them out—but I wouldn’t count on flowers being available right now. They’re one of my favorite parts of the garden, so I hate seeing them struggle.

🌱 Fall garden update: The seedlings I currently have planted are looking really good and making progress! I already have more squash, zucchini, okra, cucumber and cabbage started. I’ll also be planting more cool-season crops in September, including cabbage, lettuce and cauliflower.

We’re definitely in a transition period, but I’m excited about what’s coming next!

Thank you all for your patience and for continuing to support our little farm stand. ❤️

🌱 Farm Stand Update!

I made another trip to the garden and got the stand restocked!

Down at the Farm Stand:
🍅 Quite a few tomatoes
🍆 Eggplant

🍅 Tomato update: Some are split, and some are picture-perfect. It’s hard to be a tomato farmer this time of year! Between the spotty summer showers and the heat, the tomatoes keep us guessing. The split ones are still great if you plan to use them soon, and there are plenty of beautiful, intact tomatoes to choose from as well. We are working on it…

I am putting up some more peppers in our freezer so I’ll have them back in the stand next time.

Thank you all for continuing to support our little farm stand! Every visit, donation, and kind word means so much to us. ❤️

🌱 Farm Stand Update!

We spent some time working in the garden this evening and got the farm stand restocked!

Down at the Farm Stand:
🍅 Tomatoes
🌶️ Jalapeño peppers
🍆 Eggplant
🥒 3 cucumbers… that’s it! 😂

🍅 A quick tomato note: Some of the tomatoes are split, but most of them are in great shape. Those spotty summer showers have kept us on our toes! We’re working on a solution to help reduce splitting as much as we can.

❤️ I’m doing my best to keep the stand stocked, but I will say… y’all have been keeping me busy! We have had a lot of visitors lately, which is such a blessing, and I’m incredibly thankful for each and every one of you. If the stand happens to look a little picked over when you stop by, just know I’ll be back in the garden again soon!

🌱 The garden is in a bit of a transition right now as we prep for more late-summer planting and our cool-season fall garden.

Coming this fall (hopefully!):
🥒 Cucumbers
🥒 Squash
🥒 Zucchini
🥬 Cabbage
🥗 Lettuce
🥦 Cauliflower
🥕 Carrots

One of my favorite things about gardening is that every season brings something new to look forward to. I can’t wait to share the fall harvest with y’all!

🌱 Farm Stand Update!

The garden is starting to settle into that late-summer lull, but there’s still some fresh produce waiting for you!

Down at the Farm Stand:
🍅 Tomatoes
🍆 Eggplant
🌻 Fresh cut flowers

I had another really good harvest of tomatoes today! I’m freezing quite a few to enjoy later this year, but I made sure to leave plenty in the farm stand too.

🌶️ You won’t find peppers in the stand right now because I’m busy preserving them for our family. Cowboy Candy, pepper jelly, and relish don’t make themselves! 😄

We’re definitely in that in-between season in the garden. Summer crops are winding down, and now we’re waiting on our fall garden to start producing. It’ll be worth the wait!

A quick garden update: Right now, I’m picking about every other day, unless I’m out of town for the weekend. The weather has been nice, and we’ve been enjoying summer activities too! Earlier this season, when the squash and zucchini were in full swing, I was picking every day—sometimes twice a day. The garden has naturally slowed down a bit, but I’m still harvesting and restocking whenever I’m able.

Thank you all for continuing to support our little farm stand and our garden. ❤️

🌱 Farm Stand Update!

It’s been a few days since my last update! I was out of town this weekend, and while I was gone we ended up with quite a bit of produce left over.

I’ve been spending some time putting up tomatoes and peppers to make sure as little as possible goes to waste. I’d much rather preserve them than see them end up in the compost!

Down at the Farm Stand:
🍅 Plenty of tomatoes
🍅 Cherry tomatoes
🥒 A handful of cucumbers

A couple of garden updates:

🥒 Squash and zucchini are officially done for the summer. I’m hoping to have a fall crop, but it will be a little while before those are producing again.

🍆 We still have plenty of eggplant, but I’ve started putting out just a couple each day. We lost several recently because eggplant doesn’t stay firm for very long after it’s picked, especially in this summer heat. I’ll keep restocking them as they’re available.

🌿 I still have plenty of basil, sage, and rosemary available for anyone interested! Just send me a message and I can cut it fresh and put it in the stand for pickup that same day. Herbs like these don’t last long once cut, so I don’t want to cut more than what will be used.

🌻 Plenty of cut flowers are also available upon request! I’ll be putting a couple sunflower bouquets down at the stand later today. They just don’t last very long in this summer heat, so I try to cut them when they’ll be enjoyed fresh.

🌿 Dill is pretty well finished for the season after an army of caterpillars decided to enjoy it before we could. They definitely won that battle. 😂

And don’t worry—nothing goes to waste around here! Any produce that’s past its prime gets a second purpose. The pigs were more than happy to help clean up, and judging by the picture, I’d say they approved. 🐷🍅🥒

Hope everyone is having a great summer! Don’t forget to eat your veggies. 🥒🍅

🌱 Farm Stand Update!

The garden gave me one last good pick of summer squash and cucumbers before officially calling it quits!

Down at the Farm Stand:
🥒 The very last of the summer squash & cucumbers! There won’t be any more until our fall crops start producing.
🍅 Tomatoes — some split, but mostly beautiful and intact!
🍅 Cherry tomatoes
🍆 Lots of eggplant! And please… don’t skimp on the fried eggplant. So good.
🌶️ Peppers of all kinds — except banana peppers.

And speaking of banana peppers… I picked them. I just lost them. Apparently, I didn’t realize my gardening apron had a hole in it. So somewhere between the garden and the house, I left a trail of banana peppers behind me. 🤦‍♀️

As always, everything at the stand is locally grown from our garden here in Enola.

I made a trip to the garden and got the stand restocked! Y’ALL IT IS HOT. 🥵🔥☀️

Down at the Farm Stand:
🥒 Plenty of cucumbers
🍅 Cherry tomatoes
🍅 Heirloom tomatoes
🍆 Eggplant
🥒 Surprise squash! Some volunteer squash plants decided to grow, so we have a little more squash than expected! 😂

🍅 Tomato note: A little hit or miss when it comes to splitting because the summer showers we’ve been getting. There are plenty of split tomatoes, but there are also lots that are perfectly intact. The split ones are still good—just plan to use them sooner rather than later!

🌶️ No peppers in the stand this time because I’m going to start putting some up for making Cowboy Candy, pepper jelly, and relish later!

🌱 Farm Stand Update!

I made another trip to the garden and got the stand restocked!

Down at the Farm Stand:
🌻 1 bouquet of fresh flowers
🥒 Cucumbers
🍅 Cherry tomatoes
🍅 Heirloom tomatoes
🥒 Squash
🥒 Zucchini
🌶️ Peppers of all varieties
🔥 Lots of jalapeños! If you’ve been wanting to make Cowboy Candy, now’s the time!

I keep saying I’m going to make Cowboy Candy too… but like a broken record, I just don’t have enough time right now. 🙃

🍅 Tomato note: After all the rain we’ve had, the tomatoes are a little hit or miss on whether they’ve split. I tried to separate them, with the split tomatoes on one side and the good ones on the other. If you’re planning to use them within the next day or two, the split tomatoes are perfectly fine—they just need to be enjoyed a little sooner. That’s just what happens when we get a lot of rain all at once.

🌱 Garden update: Today I officially pulled my summer squash and zucchini plants. They had a great run! Every year, eventually the squash bugs and vine borers win. It doesn’t make you a bad gardener—it’s just part of growing squash. Sometimes the best thing you can do is pull the plants, reset the bed, and start fresh. I’ll be tilling these beds and planting a fall crop of squash, zucchini, and hopefully some lettuce and cabbage.

As always, everything at the stand came straight from our garden here in Enola.

🌱 Farm Stand Update!

I’ve been a little AWOL again (life has been keeping me busy 😅), but I’ve still been checking on the farm stand every day and restocking what I could.

I finally got a really good pick from our garden, and the stand is loaded back up!

Down at the Farm Stand:
🥒 Cucumbers
🍅 Cherry tomatoes
🍅 Heirloom tomatoes
🥒 Squash
🥒 Zucchini
🌶️ Lots of peppers (I was tempted to keep these all for myself… but I decided to share! 😂)
🍆 Plenty of eggplant

A quick note about the tomatoes: after all the rain we’ve had, many of them have split. That’s just part of gardening this time of year. They’re still perfectly good—just plan to use them within the next couple of days. I also picked plenty that don’t have splits.

Another heads-up: this will likely be one of the last big picks of squash and zucchini for a little while. I’m getting ready to pull those plants and replant for a fall crop. There may be a gap before the next planting starts producing, unless another local gardener donates some to the farm stand.

I haven’t had a chance to cut flowers lately, but if time allows, I’ll add some bouquets with sunflowers. Those always seem to be a favorite! 🌻

Everything in the stand today came straight from our garden here in Enola. Thank you all for supporting our little farm stand!
