Sunday Thoughts ☺️
I was scrolling through Facebook yesterday and saw a post about another restaurant raising their prices. The comments were exactly what you’d expect. People saying they were too expensive, that they were greedy, that they should just absorb the costs.
I’ve also seen a few comments lately about us being overpriced.
If you’ve followed our journey for a while, you know sometimes I take those comments to heart.
The truth is, the cost of everything has gone up. It honestly amazes me when I look back at what things cost when we opened just three years ago compared to today. Food, paper products, cleaning supplies, insurance, utilities, payroll… everything costs more.
People tell me all the time, “Y’all must be making so much money. That place stays packed.”
What most people don’t see is that a busy restaurant doesn’t automatically mean a highly profitable restaurant.
For a long time, I’ve fought raising prices because I know how hard things are for so many families right now. I understand what it’s like to watch every dollar. That’s why we’ve only had very few price increases since opening.
This post isn’t about raising prices. We aren’t doing that right now.
This post is simply about value.
We have never tried to be the cheapest sandwich shop in town.
We choose premium meats and cheeses. We make our sauces in-house. We spend more on ingredients because we believe quality matters. There are certainly less expensive ways to do what we do, but that’s never been our goal.
And while everyone defines value differently, I believe most of our sandwiches can easily feed the average person for two meals. We don’t skimp on portions, and we don’t cut corners on quality.
Our goal has always been to serve food that we’re proud to put our name on.
We know we’re not the right fit for everyone, and that’s okay. But for those of you who choose to spend your hard-earned money with us, please know we don’t take it for granted. Every sandwich, every meal, and every visit helps support a local business and more than 40 local jobs.
Thank you for continuing to support us. We appreciate you more than you’ll ever know. Happy Sunday!
