Bremervale in the 80’s imported 6 pure Spanish horses where Jill Toft saw that the influence Spanish blood had over predominantly crabbet bred arabians. Of the 6 imported - the three mares made such a significant impact.

1. Polaca (Hacho × Batista) – the most influential of the imports and a National Champion. Through her descendants, she became one of the foundation mares behind Desperado. Here are some old photographs of her. Her influence at Bremervale was beyond incredible. This is why I imported Devoted TA - A black granddaughter to Poloca on both sides of the pedigree 2 generations back through Aquarius and through Bey Devotion. Polaca’s full brother was black too.

2. Piconera (Hacho × Veleta) – half-paternal-sister to Polaca. She produced only one foal for Bremervale, Bremervale Conquita, but that family went on to become highly influential through daughters such as Bremervale Spellbound.

3. Gual Boukra (Galeon × Rumbosa) – another outstanding Spanish import, producing around 20 foals, including the beautiful Bremervale Spanish Princess, whose descendants remain important in Australian breeding.
