Last night, as I looked across our dahlia field, it finally hit me, we did it!

After a month and a half of late nights, weekends, and squeezing in planting after I sign off from my corporate job, our back field, home to all of our Roe varieties, is finally planted. The irrigation is in, and while we still have T-posts and support twine to install, the back field is basically done.

With rain in the forecast, I had a chance to sit down and calculate our first Humane Society donation. Thanks to all of you, we’re able to donate $700 this season! Wooohooo! 🙌🏽

Honestly, that number means so much more than dollars. It represents a community of people who believe flowers can do more than bring beauty, they can make a difference.

From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU! When your Roe Layla Bear and Roe Seanshine bloom this season, we hope they bring you joy. And we hope you’ll remember that those blooms helped support animals in need in our community.

As we introduce new varieties in the future, keep an eye out for our Giving Back badge. Those varieties help us support causes that are near and dear to our hearts, allowing us to continue giving back through the flowers we love.

What started as a dream in a flower field became something bigger because of you. Thank you for growing with us. 🫶🏽

Keeping a close eye on this variegated seedling and crossing my fingers and toes. Yes, I am watching it like a hawk but with cautious optimism.

I’ve been down this road before with some seedlings that started out variegated but eventually reverted to normal. Here’s hoping this one has the whole package and earns a permanent spot. 🤞🏽🤞🏽

I love sitting here at night, reflecting on this journey. Listening to the wind, the birds singing and watching the cats wander around brings a sense of peace. Someday, when we finish the fencing, the dogs will be able to run free here too. Until then, I sit quietly, grateful for this place and the promise of what’s still to come.

Happy Friday flower friends. 🫶🏽

Why do I feel this song so deep in my soul? Because right now, every free second is going into getting these dahlias planted and ready for all the new varieties we hope to introduce next season.

Spring is always chaotic around here, but this year feels next level. For the first time, I finally feel like we’re getting our arms around what it really takes to hybridize and grow stock for our own line of dahlias. It’s exciting, exhausting, and a little all-consuming 🤪.

So if I’ve disappeared, forgotten to text back, or can only be found covered in dirt talking to myself…
just know I’m living my best plant lady life. 🫶🏽
