OWIE the Homestead Owl is back! Owie 's condo is located about seven or eight feet up in a hollow tree. He came home a couple of weeks ago and allows me to sit in my auto and tell him how handsome he is. He knows my voice.

Resident Bambino Mama deer has let me know she is around close, very close. She nibbles a few bunches of Mondo grass just to let me know she has been nice to me. However.... my Incrediball Hydrangea is missing its leaves this week. The blasted deer likes chocolate! My newly purchased Summer Chocolate Mimosa is a stub. Any deer hunters out there?

Busy summer at the Homestead. Homemade yogurt, butter, ice cream. Yum. Blueberries, blackberries and raspberries. I love gardening. Today, I will be unloading my twelfth square yard of compost.

Most recent bakery item is a Killer Apple Cake from P. Allen Smith's cookbook. Delicious!
